Collection of 1962-63 season Manchester United football programmes (H), which was played out during the worst winter on record, several games were called off many times, most clubs responded by issuing 4 page programmes to save waste, United issued 4 “Special all Red” 4 page editions they all in this set which includes 22 league games including the abandoned game against Arsenal 22nd December, 3 F.A. Cup and Friendly games against Benfica & First Vienna, All programmes in this fine set have their token intact and have no writing. Good condition. (27)
Collection of 1961-62 season Manchester United football programmes (H), all have tokens, 20 league (lacking only W.B.A.) 5 F.A. Cup including the Arsenal postponed 27th January and the rare 4 page edition when the game was 4 days later. Also included the Special edition challenge match v Real Madrid. The first programme of the season v Chelsea has the season token sheet still inside, a few with minor faults but the majority are in good – very good condition. (26)

A rare 1875/76 Rugby Football Union Laws of The Game – large notice setting out 59 rules and laws governing the game c/w diagram of the pitch - with interesting variations on the maul, ruck, throw ins, try and goal, Umpires and Captains involvement etc – published by “The Cricket Press” 5 Hind Court, Fleet St London together Advertisements for the 1876 Football Annual – overall 17.5 c 12.25”. Note: It was in 1823 that William Webb Ellis invented running with the ball in hand while at Rugby School and in 1845 the first football laws were written by Rugby School pupils but one of the most significant development and formation of rugby came in 1863 when Blackheath left the Football Association. The IRB was formed in 1886 and has been the governing body ever since – hence the date of the above rules are rare find.
1971/72 Football League Division One Champion’s 9ct gold trophy – comprising a 9ct gold embossed plaque mounted on a wooden back board with easel support and engraved “Champions Division 1 – 1971-72 – John Robson – Derby County F C” - overall 4” x 4” – See lot 925 and 926 for Derby County 1968/69 Div II Championship winning season programmes, European et al. Note: In 1971 When Mackay moved to Swindon Town Brain Clough and Taylor reorganised the defence with Todd linking with McFarland at the centre of defence and Robson reinstated as the clubs first choice left back. An unbeaten opening twelve game sequence set the tone for the1971/72 season, the “Rams” eventually winning the title by one point from Leeds, Liverpool and Manchester City. Amazingly by modern standards, Derby used just sixteen players over the forty-two game league schedule. Their defence was magnificent almost throughout, returning twenty-three clean sheets and conceding three or more goals on just three occasions. John missed just one game and added a couple of important goals as well.
