A collection of paintings from the Studio of David Eustace.David Eustace was born in Birmingham in 1950 and now lives in Exeter where he has a small modern studio in a complex of workshops for local craftsmen and designers.Eustace works in a tradition of English imaginative painters like Stanley Spencer, Alfred Wallace and Beryl Cook and he cites influences from Rene Magritte and Douanier Rousseau, Atkinson Grimshaw, William Blake and David Hockney. There are two strong themes within his body of work. The anecdotal and narrative paintings that embrace the street and the townscape as a theatre to observe and from which to draw inspiration and ideas. And the more eccentric and reflective dips into the sub-conscious with a Freudian-type interpretation of dreams, memories and emotions.David Eustace [b.1950]-Watching The Game; That Sinking Feeling:-two, each signed bottom righteach signed and inscribed as titled on the reverseoils and acrylic on boardeach 24 x 20cm.
