A Victorian table top bar billiards game, with cues and balls. Length closed 106 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The mahogany cabinet is in generally good condition with only minor scratches and marks as one would expect. The hinges are sound and secure. The baize playing surface is worn and tired in places. There are three holes in the top arched section and a tear along the top of the right-hand cushion. There are numerous small perished nibbles at the bottom end of the top section. The top end of the bottom section of baize is also worn, perforated and has some losses. There are also some losses to the baize at the front bottom edge near the lock plate. The lock and plate are present but be do not have a key. The lock escutcheon is missing. We have the nine balls, two cues and a push.

A carved jadeite figure of a nude male sitting with one leg raised, right hand resting on the knee, wearing a segmented collar and elaborate headdress with feathered crest and tail; probably a player of the pelota ball-game. Property of an Italian collector living in Torino; part of her family's collection since 1965; by descent from her grandmother in 1993; accompanied by a copy of the Italian export permit and an academic report by Emilio J. Bejarano Erosa (Director of the Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia, Mexico, 1968-1982); also accompanied by scholarly note TL 5290 by Dr Ronald Bonewitz. Fine condition. Very rare. A 19th century Chinese export black lacquer work box, with assorted ivory fittings and a similar games box with lacquered trays for cards and numerous mother of pearl gaming counters, largest width 38cm depth 31cm height 14cmCONDITION: Work box with rubbing of the gilding to the hinged lid less so elsewhere, interior partly dissembled with a mixture of Canton carved ivory tools, some chipping to the right side of the drawer which contains a small writing slope and pen tray and has a non working key, 36 x 26 x 16cmGames box has a lift off lid with damage around all of the edges and wear to the lacquering, internally better with seven lidded boxes containing assorted mother of pearl counters all engraved with a thistle crest (as is the lid of the box) and eight card trays, seven decorated with cards and one with a portrait of a chinaman and the word 'Game'.
