A Fine Mid-18th Century Ivory Fan, the monture minutely carved and pierced with cherubs and birds, the gorge particularly elaborate. The central carved ivory cartouche shows a hunter with his dog and gun. The side vignettes are carved with rabbits and game birds. The intricate lattice around them are carved with squirrels, birds, and game birds, many being picked out in colour. The gorge is extensively gilded. The velum leaf, mounted à l'Anglaise, depicts a charming scene of sleeping cherubs having their wings clipped and their bows and arrows spirited away, the Goddess Diana perched on a cloud in the sky above. The verso is painted with an autumnal scene of a bird and stone columns. Guard length 11.25 inches or 28.5cmVery good, the fan very slightly splayed when viewed closed.
A 1740's Ivory Fan, the monture beautifully carved and pierced, mother-of-pearl thumb guards to both guards, themselves carved with Chinese figures and buildings. The double paper leaf, in the Chinoiserie style, depicting both European and Oriental figures, is sprinkled with crushed mother-of-pearl and bears the attribution to M Gamble According to the Late Act 1740, at the bottom left of the recto. From the left, a European scene of ruins with a man of import seated next to a stream. The central scene shows an oriental figure holding a large decorated fixed fan, and the final scene shows an oriental family gathering where a game is being played. The verso has a simple depiction of a figure with blackened face. Guard length 10.5 inches or 27cmSome light soling to the cream background, slight loss to the paper on the bottom border, some nicks to the upper folds and small areas of period restoration to the verso.

Question of Sport game signed on score pads inside by three legendary names in sport David Coleman, Emlyn Hughes and Bill Beaumont. David Robert Coleman OBE (26 April 1926 – 21 December 2013) was a British sports commentator and TV presenter who worked for the BBC for 46 years. He covered eleven Summer Olympic Games from 1960 to 2000 and six football World Cups. Emlyn Walter Hughes OBE (28 August 1947 – 9 November 2004) was an English footballer. Hughes started his career in 1964 at Blackpool before moving to Liverpool in 1967. He would eventually turn out for Liverpool on 665 occasions, and captain the side to four league titles and an FA Cup victory in the 1970s. Added to these domestic honours were two European Cups, including Liverpool's first ever, when the Reds defeated Borussia Monchengladbach in 1977; and two UEFA Cup titles. Hughes won the Football Writers' Player of the Year in 1977. Hughes would complete a full set of English football domestic honours by winning the League Cup with Wolverhampton Wanderers in 1980. In addition to Wolves, he later played for Rotherham United, Hull City, Mansfield Town and Swansea City. Hughes earned 62 caps for the England national team, which he also captained. After retiring from football he worked as a media personality, mainly with the BBC. He was made an OBE in 1980 for his services to sport. Hughes died of a brain tumour, aged 57, in 2004.
