Note; Wendy Wood, a pseudonym for Gwendoline Meacham, was a fervent Scottish nationalist as well as an artist. One of the founders of the National Party for Scotland, she left it to establish her own organisation, the Scottish Patriots. In 1932 she led a group of nationalists into Stirling Castle, pulled down the union flag and put up the lion rampant. In 1951 she was arrested and imprisoned for incitement to riot after addressing football supporters before a Scotland versus England game. Though less known, her artistic work includes drawings and watercolours for children’s books and the comic ‘Little Dots’. She also worked for the BBC as ‘Auntie Gwen’ in a children’s radio program and, in the 1970s, read Scottish stories for the TV programme Jackanory.

REELS (3): A 6" mahogany/brass star back big game reel with ratchet thumb slide grip to rear, brass lined spool, twin black handles, a Milward`s 5" mahogany/brass star back reel with check in wood ratchet, brass lined drum, deep dished face and a 4.5" mahogany/brass star back with knurled tapered drum adjusting knob, optional check, brass lined (G).
REELS (3): An Allcock`s Commodore 6" Big Game reel, brake lever, Bickerdyke line guide, central drag knob, good, an unusual Allcock`s 4.5" nickel plated reel with odd central brake knob adjuster, ratchet to spine back, good and as Pflueger Pakron 6" wire line narrow drum reel with torpedo handle, rear drag adjuster well made substantial reel.
REELS (2): Rare Milward 5" alloy big game reel with Patent central drag knob on counter balanced brass handlebar, shaped wooden knob, Bickerdyke line guide, side lever check, correct smooth brass foot, retaining some original black finish and a similar Army & Navy of London 5" big game reel with twin ivorine handles, central drag adjuster, German silver line guide, brass side lever check and foot (F).
ACCESSORIES: An English willow game fishers creel with hinged lid and central fish slot, containing 6 boxes of assorted pattern Devon baits, inc Hardy Strathspey, Irish patterns, Bull nose and Reflex, plastic & metal examples, a box of Tube flies and a set of Salter vintage brass weigh scales 0-24lb.
A SMALL QUANTITY OF ITEMS RELATING TO PIGEON KEEPING IN THE 19TH CENTURY, including a pill rolling device for making G W Bentz`s Vegetable Poultry and Pigeon pills, for curing Croup and Canker (2d per box, 2 at roost time), unused paper labels for G W Bentz`s diarrhoea mixture for all caged birds, poultry, pigeons and game and further related items, including a letter of recommendation `Those Pills...which I bought off you entirely saved the life of one of my valuable pigeons`, together with two Kingston Columbarian Society Annual Exhibition, Fly Certificates from 1888 and other items, together with a Treaty on the Art of Breeding and Managing tamed domesticated and fancy pigeons by Eaton, published in 1852 (see part illustration).
