A large carved Black Forest cuckoo wall clock: the eight-day duration weight-driven movement striking on a gong with a cuckoo appearing on each hour, the dial having bone Roman numerals and decorative bone hands, the case carved to the front with a depiction of a rabbit to one side and a game bird to the other against a backdrop of flora, with a large carved pediment top depicting the head of a stag mounted above a selection of rifles and flora, height 111cms.
A Chinese famille rose vase: of ovoid form with waisted neck, painted with a terrace scene with ladies playing a board game and in conversation, a small panel to one side depicting two ladies reading from a scroll, the reverse inscribed in black with a poem and iron-red seals, the neck and foot enamelled with bands of scrolling flowers and foliage on a yellow ground between ruyi-head and diaper borders, the base with iron-red four-character Qianlong Nian Zhi seal mark, 20th century, 40 cm high.

Two large feather shuttlecocks circa 1860/70, 14cm long (2)Note: This near pair of shuttlecocks would have been used for the early game of Battledore and Shuttlecock. The aim of this game was to create the longest rally possible. Using a vellum covered long handled bat called a battledore, players would hit the shuttlecock to each other for as long as possible. There was no court and the distance between players varied. These large shuttlecocks consist of goose feathers with a dark coloured velvet covering the head decorated with gold coloured braid.
A tilt head lawn tennis racket circa 1875/1880, bearing the initials 'W. Dod', this early tilt head lawn tennis racket with original gut stringing has four rows of trebling top and bottom with one string break, three-quarter calf skin grip missing, unmarked, the head is quite small with considerable tilt. 'W. Dod' is written in ink on the wedge.Charlotte or 'Lottie' Dod was an ancestor of the vendor. At the inception of Lawn Tennis in the late 19th century very few families had the wealth required and land to play this new game. Charlotte Dod (known as 'Lottie') was born on the 24th September 1871, in Bebington Cheshire, less than 30 miles away from the family home at Edge Hall. She won the Ladies Singles title at Wimbledon five times in 1887, 1888, 1891, 1892 and 1893. She was then, and still is now the youngest winner aged only 15 years. She had two brothers Tony and Willy and a sister Annie. Lottie died aged 88 in 1960 and The Guinness Book of Records has named her as the most versatile female athlete of all time.

GOLD AMATEUR SCOTLAND V ENGLAND MEDAL 1931, awarded to Willie Parlane, the obverse with blue enamelled plaque bearing lion rampant motif, within engraved thistle motif border, the reverse inscribed 'Amateur Scotland v England' and 'W. Parlane 1930-31', 36mm high including bale, maker F&S, in nine carat gold, 9.7g, together with his Scottish Football Association match selection card relating to the game, addressed to Parlane and dated 12 March 1931, along with an archive relating to the player comprising newspaper clippings, two Queen's Park Football Club photographs and a team photograph bearing autographs including that of Parlane Note: William 'Willie' Parlane was a Scottish footballer who enjoyed a career with clubs including St Mirren, Queens Park and Dumbarton F.C. Making his debut for the Sons in 1929, Willie scored 68 goals in 145 appearances for Dumbarton, playing in a squad which also included his two brothers, Alex and John. This medal was awarded to Parlane further to the Scotland v England (Amateur) match on Saturday 21 March 1931, held at the grounds of Chelsea F.C. in London.
