JUMANJI (1995) - Lightweight Gameboard Faceplate - A lightweight gameboard faceplate from Joe Johnston's Jumanji. Alan Parrish (Robin Williams), Sarah Whittle (Bonnie Hunt), Judy Shepherd (Kirsten Dunst), and Peter Shepherd (Bradley Pierce) played a mysterious but dangerous magic game called Jumanji which featured a distinctive faceplate.Created for the scene where a pelican picked up the game board, the board was made of thin lightweight material to be supported by the pelican puppet. This fiberglass faceplate features the word "Jumanji" in front of a scenic background including volcanoes, Acacia trees, shrubbery, and characters from the game and film, including a monkey, a rhinoceros, an elephant, and big game hunter Van Pelt (Jonathan Hyde) on the corners. The faceplate is hand-painted red, green, and brown on top of a beige base and intentionally distressed by production to appear aged and worn. Spencer addressed to Marc Pevers with a cassette tape marked "Disco Robot" and a personal note of Star Wars letterhead; three pages of correspondences between Spencer and Pevers with song lyrics to "Disco Robot" with handwritten annotations on the back; a typed memo from Mick Garris to Lippincott dated April 18, 1978 on Star Wars letterhead with handwritten annotations throughout; a manila envelope addressed to Lippincott from Twentieth Century-Fox; three correspondences with handwritten annotations; a manila folder marked "Promotion-Contests," and stamped with a Lippincott seal, with seven pages of articles, 20 pages of a Star Wars Handbook with a personal note, 20 pages of instructions for a Star Wars game, and a sepia photo of Ms. Beth B. McIntosh; and a printed image of space with a grid background adhered to cardboard. STAR WARS: RETURN OF THE JEDI (1983) - William Plumb Collection: Hand-Drawn Vincent Di Fate Videogaming Illustrated Magazine Cover Concept Sketch - A hand-drawn Videogaming Illustrated magazine cover concept sketch by Vincent Di Fate for Videogaming Illustrated's issue that went into depth on the video game Jedi Arena. Di Fate provided the cover art for this magazine published in February 1983.This hand-drawn sketch on vellum taped to a board comes from the personal collection of William Plumb. Rendered in graphite and labeled as "Sketch #4," this sketch is signed by Di Fate and features an image of Luke Skywalker wielding his blaster beside a C-3PO with TIE Fighters in the background. This lot exhibits discoloration and lifted adhesive. He was a pioneer in searching for artwork for his collection and began contacting artists to inquire about their works in the mid 1980s. Over time he developed personal relationships with many renowned artists including Ralph McQuarrie, Drew Struzan, Lawrence Noble, and Dave Dorman. In 1986, Plumb organized the "Space Fantasy & Reality Art Expo" at the Maturango Museum in Ridgecrest, California, to benefit the handicapped. The event was supported by contributions from Plumb's artist friends and even Lucasfilm - all of whom loaned materials to Plumb for the display.It was through these personal relationships that Plumb acquired many of the finest pieces in his collection. Throughout the years, Plumb organized or appeared at countless other events and shows, where he proudly displayed his collection and discussed his passion for Star Wars original art with both artists and fans. In 1996, Plumb hosted a panel at San Diego Comic Con on collecting Star Wars artwork specifically. In 2001, he and a small group of fellow collectors commissioned Lawrence Noble to produce the now-famous "Bronze Yoda." This set consists of a 40-page "Episode II" script; a 50-page "Episode III" yellow draft script dated July 16, 2012 with handwritten annotations regarding scene notes and dialogue; a 38-page "Episode IV" script; a 37-page "Episode V" script; a 44-page "Episode VI" script; a 38-page "Episode VII" script; a 52-page "Episode VIII" script; and a 59-page "Episode X" yellow draft script dated October 24, 2010. JUMANJI (1995) - Pair of Oversized Jumanji Dice - Oversized Jumanji dice from Joe Johnston's Jumanji. Alan Parrish (Robin Williams), Sarah Whittle (Bonnie Hunt), Judy Shepherd (Kirsten Dunst), and Peter Shepherd (Bradley Pierce) used dice to play the mysterious but dangerous magic board game Jumanji.These oversized dice were created and hand-painted beige with black pips by Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) for inserts of their dramatic rolls, likely including the final roll of the film. One is cast from resin around a weighted interior for aerodynamics, while the other is molded from foam. Both exhibit paint flaking, exposed materials, and cracking from age and production use.
