dating: circa 1600 provenance: Europe, Closed, cuirassier helmet in two halves, slightly ribbed and outlined at the center. Raised chanfrin with rounded and ribbed brim, with small damage and old repairs, remains of outlining also here. Ventail ribbed at the centre, with open-work for the visor bordered outwards, air holes on the left side. Beavor with notched engraving at edge and with neck-guard fixed with rivets, featuring twisted decorations. Clasp hooks on the left side. On the back remains of a brass plume holder, riveted nape guard and worked en suite. The breastplate ribbed at the center, remains of stamps below the neckline and marking 'G/P' (a probable reuse in the 'Gioco del Ponte' - Game of Bridge). On one side an old repair near the neckline. The neclike is well riveted and of small size, with twisted engraving, gussets en suite. The backplate with inventory stamps and twisted ropes. Simple, single-plate neck collar. Wode crossbelts with simple hemmed edges and worked with notches, file roped vanbraces with small damage. Articulated tassets, one with five and one with four plates. Restored leather strings. height as shown circa 95 cm.

The first card marked 'Si vende da Gio. Batista e Fratelli Albrizzi S. Benedetto Venezia'. 52 game cards with badge marks for military life, each one with engravings. Kept in wooden box (missing base and lid). A beautiful and very interesting military game described by the authors in the first card 'Per la nobile Gioventù desiderosa di seguire Marte per segnalarsi nel Campo della Gloria' ('For the noble Youth eager to follow Mars to distinguish themselves in the Field of Glory'.)Probably sold in one of the many companies of the famous Albrizzi family, originally from Bergamo, Italy, which moved to Venice in the 16th century and became part of the patriciate from 1667. Members of the family were employed in politics, power of attorney, art sale and various areas of trade. dimensions 5.5 x 10.2 cm.

Taxidermy: African Leopard Cub Skin Rug (Panthera pardus), circa 1912-1913, British East Africa, by Edward Gerrard & Sons, Taxidermists & Osteologists, 61 College Place, Camden Town, London, a superb unusual and rare cub skin rug with open-mouthed head mount, glass eyes, relaxed ears, with limbs outstretched, backed on to original tired waxed cotton material, 142cm long nose to tail, 92cm wide across forelimbs, 85cm across the rear limbs, bearing original taxidermist's silk trade label to underside. Taken by Frederick Biscoe Oldfield (1871-1940), Frederick Biscoe Oldfield was educated at Haileybury and New College Oxford, and admitted at the age of 19 to inner Temple. He became a member of the South Eastern Circuit as a barrister-at-law in 1896. He was a Freemason, a JP, County Councillor for Hampshire and County Councillor for Hackney. He served in the Boer War, and in WW1 as a major in the 7th Battalion Royal Fusiliers City of London Regiment in 1900 aged 29. He retained the rank of Major on resigning his commission at the end of the war. His biggest passion was hunting Big Game, very fashionable at that time, going on safari in 1912-1913 was the first of many, at the age of 41, being a keen photographer he kept record of all his "kills", please see various accompanying copies of images taken on safari and within the family home at Long Hyde, Evesham, 1917.Backing material in poor condition, in need of repair or replacement, trade label just legible, 14/09/23
