ENGLAND FOOTBALL AUTOGRAPHS 1945 Set of England team autographs for the game v Wales , 20/10/45 at Wembley. Signatures comprise Bert Williams, Scott, Kinsell, Soo, Franklin, Mercer, Matthews, Fenton, Stubbins, Barrass and Watson. Signed on a typewritten team list which is also signed by reserve Billy Wright. Slight wear and tear around edges but signatures are good and in ink. Generally good
YOUTH CUP MAN UTD - BURNLEY 56 Beige coloured single sheet Manchester United home programme for game played at The Cliff, 8/10/56, Youth Cup v Burnley., First round. United had won the competition each year since the competition started and despite many of their more famous names being ineligible now, they defeated Burnley 5-2 with Dawson scoring all five goals. Burnley lost a player early on with a leg fracture and the ten men fought hard but without much joy. This was the fourth and last Youth Cup game to be played at The Cliff and the programme has the usual words stating the obvious, ie "To read-hold programme to light"., Score and scorers noted, slight fold, scarce item. YORK-MANSFIELD / DONCASTER 1931 York programme for first team game v Doncaster 26/12/1931 and for Midland League Reserves game v Mansfield Reserves, 25/12/1931. Mansfield Reserves took the place of Mansfield first team in the Midland League as the first team had been elected into the Football League. Good
USA SOCCER 1930 Excellent double sided sheet of autographs circa 1930s which includes the USA Soccer team. The USA entered the 1930 World Cup in Uruguay and defeated both Belgium and Paraguay before being beaten 6-1 by Argentina in the Semi-Final when the USA finished with effectively 8 players as they lost a player with a broken leg after 10 minutes and two others including the goalkeeper were badly injured during the game. The signatures include the 1930 captain George Moorhouse and Patenaude who also played in the 1930 World Cup. Other signatures include Chesney, Dick and Ballantyne who played against Scotland in 1935 and two of the above signatories played against the 1939 Scottish touring team.. Trainer Jack Coll has also signed, Coll left Celtic in the 1920s to seek fame and no doubt fortune as a football trainer in the USA. He was trainer for the 1930 USA World Cup team and filled the team with Scottish born players. The USA signed sheet includes 11 players in position order, 3 reserves, trainer Coll and assistant Ballantyne. The other side includes eight players from Michigan All Stars including Frank Crawly (ex Blackburn Rovers, Accrington and Lincoln). A rare piece of USA soccer history with many rare signatures. Good
PORTSMOUTH - ARSENAL 47/8 Two programmes for games between the clubs, 47/8, both games finished 0-0 and Portsmouth did not concede a goal to Arsenal who won the title. Portsmouth finished in 8th place. Programmes are for game at Portsmouth 21/4/48 ( folds) and at Arsenal 4/10/47, (fold, team changes, rusty staples). Fair-generally good

Also includes ticket for London 5-a-side Championships at Empire Pool, Wembley1974, European Cup Final 1978, Rugby Union England v New Zealand 30/1/1954 at Twickenham and 2 x Oxford v Cambridge Varsity Football game tickets 1968 and 1985 both at Wembley.. Generally good
GUERNSEY 1944 Exceedingly scarce wartime programme for a match played at Beau Sejour, Guernsey, 31/5/44. The Amherstian Players v The Lyric Variety Stars. At the time , Guernsey was still occupied by the German forces and paper was in very short supply. Single sheet programme for this Charity game and both teams included male and female players which was banned by the FA at this time. Included amongst the players was Gertie Duquemin who was possibly related to Len Duquemin who went on to play for Spurs. Two punch-holes but no print affected. Exceedingly rare programme and very unlikely that many copies survive. Reg Warley was left back for the Players and unknown to the Germans he was the typist for the Guernsey Secret Underground Press which kept the islanders informed of the progress of the War via the strictly forbidden BBC. If he had been caught , he would face the death penalty. Programme is generally good condition. Generally good
PRESTON NORTH END - MEDAL 1903-04 Second Division Championship Medal awarded to centre forward P. J. Smith who played in all but one of the League games and scored 26 goals during the season. Percy Smith scored the only goal of the final game at home to Blackpool and this goal ensured that Preston won the title by one point from Woolwich Arsenal who also gained promotion as Runners Up. Smith continued his goal-scoring exploits for PNE until 1909-10 when he was transferred to Blackburn Rovers where he won two Championship medals in 1912 and 1914.. The medal, is gold and enamel, hall-marked, with Preston North End badge on the front in enamel and inscribed on the reverse "2nd Div League Championship presented to P.J.Smith". Good

Home game tickets v Sunderland (3rd Round), Coventry (4th Round), Man City (6th round replay) and away match tickets at Bedford (4th round) , Manchester City (6th round), Semi-Final at Bolton v Manchester United and Final at Wembley v Sheffield Wednesday. RED DEVILS FLANDERS -ENGLAND 1945 Very scarce four page programme, Red Devils Flanders (Belgium) v England , 24/3/45, the FA toured Belgium and this game was played in Bruges. The programme states that this match was against England but officially it was a FA XI as Busby was in the team . Many England Internationals listed including Swift, Hardwick, Scott, Mercer, Franklin, Matthews, Lawton and Mortenson. Slight wear along folds. Fair-generally good
E.LONGWORTH FA MEDAL Medal awarded by the FA to Ephraim Longworth for playing in an International Trial game. Gold ,hall-marked. Date not known but Liverpool player Longworth made five appearances for England between 1920 and 1923 becoming the first Liverpool player to captain England. Inscribed E.Longworth on reverse. Good

1971 FAIRS CUP FINAL Juventus v Leeds United (1st Leg Re-arranged) played 28 May 1971 at Stadio Comunale, Turin. Scarce ''Stadio'' 4-page newspaper issue dated 29 May 1971 Includes full team line-ups to the front cover with match reports and main headline ''JUVENTUS-LEEDS'' and further match reports inside. This game was re-played after the original first leg match was abandoned after 51 minutes on 26 May, 1971. The top right corner of the paper has been nibbled although this does not affect any text. Good
FORCES IN BURMA 1944 Exceedingly rare programme for touring XI in Burma, 1944, covers three games including England v Scotland 5/10/44 at Comilla. Combined Tour of the Army and RAF International teams and players in this game included Langton (Blackburn), Denis Compton (Arsenal), Walker (West Ham), Hayward (Blackpool), Goddard (Wolves), programme also covers games v RAF XI 6/10/44 at Comilla, and v Army XI at Mynamati. Four page issue. Fold. Generally good
MANCHESTER UNITED- BOLTON 1963 In CORK Four page programme, Manchester United v Bolton Wanderers, 13/2/63, played at Flower Lodge, Cork, Ireland. Both teams flew over to Ireland for this exhibition game as the atrocious weather had led to many postponements in England from December until March and both teams were short of match practice. United won 4-2 . Pat Crerand had just been signed by United and he made his debut in this game and has signed the programme. Score, scorers noted, some creasing. Fair-generally good

The line-ups are shown for games v South of England 23/4/56 at Reading, v England 26/4/56 at Peterborough and v Midlands 1/5/56 at Villa. The line ups are also shown for the game v Welsh Boys Clubs at Swansea 3/5/56. The games were all against Boys Clubs players. Eight page issue. Minor folds. Generally good
EAST STIRLINGSHIRE / E.S.CLYDEBANK Two programmes, E.S.Clydebank v Stranraer, 26/8/64 at Kilbowie and first and only season programme for the newly formed team as a Scottish League Club although this game was in the League Cup. Programme is in good condition. The other programme is East Stirlingshire v Queen's Park, 10/8/63 at Firs Park, League Cup tie. Only season in the top division being relegated at the end of the season and merging to become E.S.Clydebank. Programme has some creasing but no writing. Fair-good

AJAX - CELTIC 1971 Signed programme plus a match ticket, Ajax v Celtic, 15/3/71, European Cup, programme is signed by the Celtic squad on the team line-up page . Circa 16 Celtic signatures including many of the Lisbon Lions. ( Ink signatures). The programme is in generally good condition. RUGBY LEAGUE-WIDNES-YSTRADGYNLAIS 1950 Official Widnes home programme for friendly v Ystradgynlais, 23/9/50, Widnes has toured South Wales the previous season and this was a return friendly. The RFL were trying to establish Rugby League in South Wales and 1949-50 saw the formation of the South Wales Rugby League. Ystradgynlais is a small mining community approximately 13 miles North of Swansea. Widnes won the game 51-7 and the teamsheet is signed in pencil by six of the Welsh players. Good
ARMY CUP 52-53 Unusual programme, Army Challenge Cup Semi-Final, 18/3/53, Olympic Stadium, Berlin, 1st Bn Royal Scots Fusiliers v 28Bn RAOC (UK). Four page issue. Players included Marchi, Keeble, Gunter, Gosling etc. The Royal Scots seem to have qualified for the Semi-Final by winning the BAOR Trophy which was probably why the game was played in Berlin. Fold. Good

Australasia consisted of Australians and New Zealanders playing in the English Rugby League at the time., 5 x Wigan players + 2 Reserves in GB side, 4 x Leeds players in Australasian team. LEICESTER RUGBY 1934 Programme Leicester v Barbarians, 27/12/1934 , all the Barbarians players were Internationals , slight fold, sold with a pen and ink drawing of Beamish of Leicester who was a Leicester captain but played for the Barbarians in this game. He is shown in Leicester colours and has signed the sketch drawn by P.C.Priestley. Sketch measures 7" x 10". Generally good-good

EVERTON - ABERDEEN 1956/SCHWABEN SC Very scarce American League Soccer News programme for two Everton tour games, May 27th and May 30th 1956. Line-ups for game on May 27th v Aberdeen in New York ( the game was postponed due to heavy rain) and v Scwaben (Germany) 30/5/56, also in New York. This was the programme for both games and is very scarce. Scwaben beat Everton 1-0 at Dowming Stadium, Randalls Island in front of 6,782, Scwaben scoring 10 minutes from the end of a bad-tempered game. Single sheet issue with editorial on both sides about both games. Slight ageing. Good
ARSENAL - MANSFIELD 1928-29 Unusual piece of memorabilia from the Cup tie Arsenal v Mansfield, 26/1/1929, a cartoon series of sketches on a page from a magazine detailing the secret method used by Mansfield to win their way through to the game at Arsenal this afternoon. We won't divulge the secret here but the series of sketches are quite amusing. Framed but could be removed. Good
CARDIFF RUGBY LEAGUE 1951 Two quite scarce programmes for games including Cardiff Rugby League club as the RFL made another attempt to expand the game. Programmes are Wigan v Cardiff 29/8/51 ( first season for Cardiff, small paper loss to corner of back cover) and Workington Town v Cardiff 29/9/51, Cardiff had lost all 8 games prior to this having 344 points scored against them. WARTIME FOOTBALL - SINGAPORE Scarce football programme, Ted Haywards XI v British 2nd Division, 29/3/46 at Padang, Singapore.. Large format single sheet programme for the game which was a 5-1 victory for Haywards XI who included Hardisty (Middlesbrough), Black (Fulham) in goal, Hayward of Blackpool and Yeomanson (Leeds Utd). Other players in his team represented, Leicester, Albion Rovers, Clyde, Notts Forest, Hull, Swansea and Falkirk. Score noted. Scarce wartime programme. Good

GOLF-RYDER CUP 1953 Official programme for the 1953 Ryder Cup between Great Britain and the United States at Wentworth Golf Club, October 2nd / 3rd 1953. The match , in those days was played over two days and the tie consisted of four foursomes on the Friday and eight singles on the Saturday. There were 10 players in each team with Europeans not, as of yet , eligible to take part. Normally the States won quite easily and the 1953 contest was no different in as much that the US won by 6.5 points to 5.5 points. Each game was played over 36 holes. The programme is scarce and contains the order of play sheet for the Saturday singles. The programme has 68 pages and is in good condition. Good
