UK FIREARMS LICENCE WITH .58 CAL PISTOL OR RFD REQUIREDThe box measures 56cm x 18.5cm The pistol appears to be almost new condition with only minor handling marks. It may have been fired once or twice or perhaps unfired except for proofing. There are minor marks to the rear sight and very slight corrosion spots to the polished muzzles and to the nipples. The box has some storage use damages.

John Manton percussion double barrel shotgun John Manton percussion 12 bore double barrel shotgun, 30-inch Damascus barrels fitted with platinum breech plugs, engraved John Manton and Son, Dover Street London, side lock actions engraved with game birds and scrollwork, figured chequered stock, pineapple finial trigger guard engraved with a gundog, serial number 11980 to trigger guard tang, barrel lugs and forend. Section 58(2) antique / obsolete calibre, can be bought without a licence. Buyer must be over the age of 18 and ID will be requested if the gun is to be posted out to a home address.118cm longThe gun is in average condition, it has been refinished some time ago and now needs some careful attention before it will look its best. The metalwork to the exterior of the gun has some light pitting patches scattered about. The bore has some pitting but would improve with polishing, there are some marks which are probably too deep to lap out. The barrels have been re-browned, there are dark pitting patches scattered about both tubes. The actions cock and release with strong springs. One nipple is missing altogether, the other is present and in fair condition. There are no signs of damage to the hammer from being dropped without a nipple in place. The stock has been sanded and the chequering is worn thin in places. Some of the metal parts are slightly proud due to the refinishing work. There are a few dents and marks to the wood stock which can be seen from the images. The butt plate has some pitting and fresh corrosion which is also seen on the trigger guard tang.

Buyer must be over the age of 18 and ID will be requested if the gun is to be posted out to a home address.117cm longThe gun has been expertly refinished, the work has not been over done and the gun has a pleasing original-looking condition to it. The barrels ring when tapped, they have been rebrowned and there are some dark patches of pitting in small areas. There is a dent visible to the left hand tube. The bores are pitted throughout.The barrels are on face and tight on the action with no wobble with the forend removed.The actions function correctly with strong positive feeling springs. The left side action has some dark pitting patches to the lock plate. The butt plate has some pitting.The stock has a very short superficial split beside the trigger guard tang. The forend has two spliced in repairs to the thin edge of the right hand side. The chequering has been recut. There are occasional scratches and dents from use but nothing defacing.

Buyer must be over the age of 18 and ID will be requested if the gun is to be posted out to a home address.117cm longThe gun is in average condition but needs some cleaning and light restoration to look its best. The metalwork to the exterior of the gun has some light pitting. This is more so on the barrels, trigger guard and butt plate than it is on the locks. There are cororsion patches scattered throughout. There is a patch of thick corriosion to the tops of the barrels just ahead of the nipples. There are no obvious dents to the sides of the barrels but there is a small dent and rough patch to the muzzles which needs tapping back down and maybe careful filing. The bores are dark, dirty and look to have some surface corrosion, they would improve with cleaning and careful polishing but there may be some underlying pitting. The barrel rib looks to be all inplace with no signs of lifting. The barrel wedge has some distortions to the edges of the head where a screwdriver has been used to pry it out. The ram rod is a replacement and lacks the horn tip. The actions cock and release with strong springs. The stock is free from splits or cracks, there are some small dents and scratches. The right hand side of the forend has some chipping and shallow losses to the thin edge.
