Die Halterungen der Hahnfedern herzförmig durchbrochen. Vollschäfte aus Nussbaumholz (ein Exemplar mit Sprung an der hinteren Schlossschraube) mit Nasen aus graviertem Bein. Ganzflächig extrem fein gearbeitete, hochwertige Einlagen aus graviertem und geschwärztem Perlmutt und Bein, umgeben von filigranem Spandekor. Darstellung verschiedener Wild- und Fabeltiere, auf den Schlossgegenseiten jeweils ein bekrönter Adler, wohl das Stadtwappen von Teschen. An den Kolbenunterseiten die stehende Fortuna. Kolbenkästen mit gefederten Verschlusshebeln. Hölzerne Ladestöcke mit eisernen Gewindehülsen. Länge je 83 cm.Sehr schön erhaltenes Karabinerpaar, dessen Schafteinlagen zu den besten damaligen Arbeiten aus Teschen gerechnet werden können. In der Sammlung des Metropolitan Museums of Art befindet sich ein ähnlich gearbeitetes Karabinerpaar (Nr. 04.3.160–.161), dessen Einlegearbeiten aber an Feinheit und Qualität deutlich hinter den hier angebotenen Waffen zurückstehen. Zustand: II +An important pair of Teschen wheellock carbines, circa 1640Slender octagonal barrels rifled with eight grooves in 10 mm calibre. Dovetailed sights made of brass and iron. The barrel tops chiseled with floral ornaments. Locks with external wheel, spring-loaded pan covers with release buttons. The mounts of the hammer springs with heart-shaped open-work. Walnut full stocks (one with a crack at the rear lock screw), covered in delicately crafted inlays of engraved and blackened mother-of-pearl and bone, surrounded by intricate chip inlays, the fore-end caps of engraved bone. Portrayal of game and mythical beasts, opposite lock a crowned eagle, probably the coat of arms of the city of Teschen. The undersides of the buttstocks decorated with an image of the goddess Fortuna. Patch-boxes with spring-loaded locking lugs. Wooden ramrods with iron threads. Length 83 cm each.The stock inlays of this very well-preserved pair of carbines is among the very best Teschen works of that time. A similar pair of carbines can be found in the Metropolitan Museum of Art (Nr. 04.3.160–.161), with the quality of ours definitely being superior.Condition: II +
