A large late 19th Century oak sideboard, profusely carved with foliate scrolls, masks and flowers, the panel back with an arched surmount above a pair of high relief carvings of hanging game, flanked by figural herm pilasters, the base fitted with three drawers and a pair of cupboard doors, similarly decorated with animals, herms and masks, height approx 273cm, width approx 228cm (top section of pediment missing).
Thomas Foster, Tiverton, a mahogany convex dial wall clock the timepiece fusee movement with shaped shoulders and an anchor escapement, the fourteen-inch round convex dial with black Roman numerals, blued steel spade hands and signed Thomas Foster, Tiverton, the mahogany case with a cast brass bezel and moulded surround, diameter 41cm. * Biography Thomas Foster is recorded as working in Fore Street, Tiverton as an auctioneer, appraiser and dealer in game, from circa 1820 until at least the 1850’s. He was also an agent for the Universal Life Assurance Company. A longcase clock made by Foster is in the Tiverton Museum.

A 19th Century brass finger tip thimble (dredged from the River Thames), a 19th Century coated base metal child's workhouse thimble, a late 15th Century bronze thimble (found during a dig on a site of a medieval house in Cambridge), a Charles I bronze thimble (found in a casket dredged from the River Thames - all contents found therein of the same period) and a small brass thimble, possibly a game marker. CONDITION REPORTS Finger tip thimble very worn and with some mis-shaping, splits and losses to edges plus hole to top. Other thimbles with various dents, wear and mis-shaping, and some splits and losses.
