Green morocco by Sangorski and Sutcliffe stamped in gilt with two hounds to the upper board and a hare to the back board marbled endpapers green cloth slip case quarto; and a paperweight similarly gilt stamped on green morocco (2) This magnificent edition is also inscribed “To Michael Lyne without whose encouragement and splendid help the book would not have been contemplated let alone completed With affection and high regard Richard Grant-Rennick” The coursing scene on the cover is derived from the same group of hounds and hare in the bronzes in lot 471

An unusual Russian oak draw leaf table the extending top inlaid with a central eight point medallion and spear angles within a barber pole border supported by a traditional panelled box sub structure containing two drawers with ring handles each side carved with a geometric representation of probably an animal on turned bun columns flat stretchers and bun feet 74cm high 79cm wide 177cm fully extended probably 18th century Provenance: Originally one of a pair and by direct descent from St. George Littledale big game sportsman traveller and explorer of the Pamirs Central Asia and Tibet. Littledale lived at Wick Hill House Warfield Bracknell where in an inventory taken in February 1913 by John Barker and Co. Ltd. of Kensington are listed “Antique Russian oak and inlaid tables lift up tops fitted drawer turned columns and stretcher feet £30”
