ARSENAL - MANSFIELD 1928-29 Unusual piece of memorabilia from the Cup tie Arsenal v Mansfield, 26/1/1929, a cartoon series of sketches on a page from a magazine detailing the secret method used by Mansfield to win their way through to the game at Arsenal this afternoon. We won't divulge the secret here but the series of sketches are quite amusing. Framed but could be removed. Good

CARDIFF RUGBY LEAGUE 1951 Two quite scarce programmes for games including Cardiff Rugby League club as the RFL made another attempt to expand the game. Programmes are Wigan v Cardiff 29/8/51 ( first season for Cardiff, small paper loss to corner of back cover) and Workington Town v Cardiff 29/9/51, Cardiff had lost all 8 games prior to this having 344 points scored against them. Fair-generally good
WARTIME FOOTBALL - SINGAPORE Scarce football programme, Ted Haywards XI v British 2nd Division, 29/3/46 at Padang, Singapore.. Large format single sheet programme for the game which was a 5-1 victory for Haywards XI who included Hardisty (Middlesbrough), Black (Fulham) in goal, Hayward of Blackpool and Yeomanson (Leeds Utd). Other players in his team represented, Leicester, Albion Rovers, Clyde, Notts Forest, Hull, Swansea and Falkirk. Score noted. Scarce wartime programme. Good
INTERNATIONALS Collection of over 40 International programmes, mostly full Internationals for England , with a few Scotland homes and occasional lower level game. Includes England away at Luxembourg 77 and at Switzerland 75. England homes include v Argentina 51, v Austria 51, Rest of the World 58 and v Wales 58 at Villa Park plus 9 other 50s and 7 early sixties. Some minor faults, changes, scores noted etc. Includes 2 x Euro 96 programmes and four x Scotland ( mainly 70s). Fair-generally good
GOLF-RYDER CUP 1953 Official programme for the 1953 Ryder Cup between Great Britain and the United States at Wentworth Golf Club, October 2nd / 3rd 1953. The match , in those days was played over two days and the tie consisted of four foursomes on the Friday and eight singles on the Saturday. There were 10 players in each team with Europeans not, as of yet , eligible to take part. Normally the States won quite easily and the 1953 contest was no different in as much that the US won by 6.5 points to 5.5 points. Each game was played over 36 holes. The programme is scarce and contains the order of play sheet for the Saturday singles. The programme has 68 pages and is in good condition. Good
BIRMINGHAM & WEST HAM 1929-1931 Collection of memorabilia for games played between Birmingham Junior Organising Committee and West Ham Junior Organising Committee between 1929 and 1931. Games were played at Villa Park and Upton Park and they were effectively non-league representative games between the two areas. Three items in this Lot, two boxed silver hall-marked medals made by Vaughtons, one for the game at Villa Park, 22/4/1930 and one for the game at Upton Park 30/3/1929. The medals belonged to Birmingham goalkeeper Slater and have match details engraved upon them. The third item is a scarce match ticket for the game at Upton Park 4/4/1931 and it mentions the West Ham United ground and Directors. Good
1932 PROGRAMME SERVICES - EGYPT Very scarce programme, The Army v The Royal Air Force, 8/4/1932 at National Sporting Club, Gezira, Egypt. Army team included players from Kings Own, South Staffords, 14th/20th Hussars and R.H.A whilst the Air Force included players from 45 Squadron, 208 Sqn, 6 Sqn and 14 Sqn plus RAF Depot and HQ. The referee was from the Egyptian FA but all other participants were British. Scarce item. Also included is a postcard team group of the RAF team, a Royal Air Force Middle east Association Football cloth Shirt/Blazer badge and a full match report of the game in which the RAF triumphed 5-2. CHESTER - STOCKPORT COUNTY 1911-FA CUP Four page official programme issued by Taplen and Paddocks for the FA Cup tie , Chester v Stockport County 18/11/1911. The editorial notes rather bitterly that a Wrexham protest about the Chester side fielding an ineligible player in the previous round had been dismissed although the player now could not play against Stockport. County won the game 4-1 in the FA Cup Fourth Qualifying Round. The programme has a fold, slight tears to edges and minor ageing although overall condition is at least "Fair-generally good". MANCHESTER UNITED Collection of Manchester United ephemera including two itineraries for the official one day travel party to Wembley for the 1990 Cup Final v Crystal Palace, 12/5/90 plus a programme for the game plus books "There's only one United (Geoffrey Green 1978 hardback with dj) and softback "Frankly Speaking" (Frank Stapleton) , plus framed colour teamgroup Manchester United 1967 with trophies (players named, 22" x18"), a framed team group 1991 with the Cup-Winners Cup 20" x 14" and a framed colour photograph of Brian Robson in the 1987 strip together with a player dressed in the old Green and gold strip , measures 18" x 22". All framed items could be removed from frames for carriage purposes. Also included are a 1989 letter on United letter-heading signed by Club Secretary Kenneth Merrett and a Manchester United Parker pen. Generally good
SURREY - LANCS 1894 & 1895 Two scorecards for games at The Oval between Surrey and Lancashire, August 1894 ( Lancs were all out 147 but Surrey were in trouble being bowled out for 97 and were 41-4 in the second innings). The second card is for August 1895 when Lancashire won a low scoring game scoring 143 and 94, Surrey achieved 108 and 85. Good
LEEDS - PORTSMOUTH 46/7 Leeds United home programme v Portsmouth, 24/5/47 having originally been scheduled for 8/3/47 when the horrendous Winter weather led to the game being postponed.. Quite a scarce programme as the game had the lowest Leeds attendance of the season , 14,097 and at the time Leeds were plummeting towards Division 2 as they drew 2 and lost 15 from 1/2/47. Portsmouth won the game 1-0. Slight fold.. Good
MANSFIELD - CRYSTAL PALACE 1939 Mansfield home programme v Crystal Palace, 22/4/1939 and just 3,016 watched the game which ended 0-0 as Mansfield extended a run of 1 win in 9 games, a run which included 7 draws, 5 of them 0-0, not exactly entertaining. Programme has a fold and is a little creased and was now a small format issue. Mansfield finished six points clear of trouble but only scored 44 goals all season, 7 less than the next lowest. Fair-generally good
EVERTON 1934 Scarce four page programme for game played at Goodison Park, 26/4/1934. The match was the Final of the Knock-Out competition for men out of employment and the teams were Netherfield Conservatives and Norris Green Service Club. The back page provides editorial relating to the formation of the competition. Unusual programme. Good
IPSWICH TOWN 1937-38 Brochure produced by Ipswich Town to support their application to be elected to the Football League. Contains aerial photograph of the ground, summary of match attendances and receipts in the Southern League and friendlies, a wide angle photograph of Ipswich v Colchester 5/2/1938, attendance 23,449 (not a bad attendance for a Southern League game), a summary of distances and rail fares to Ipswich from the other Division 3 South clubs and details about the Club and the town. It proved successful and Ipswich were elected to the League in place of Gillingham. Slight foxing. Generally good
BRITISH LIONS IN NEW ZEALAND Collection of four programmes for Lions games in New Zealand, 4th Test at Auckland 19/9/59, Lions won 9-6, 2nd Test at Lancaster Park 10/7/71 (All Blacks won 22-12), game v Bay of Plenty 10/8/71 Tauranga, (punch-holes, minimal print affected, Lions won 20-14) and programme for the Test at Eden Park v New Zealand 3/7/93 (NZ won 30-13 to win the series 2-1). Generally good
CARDIFF RUGBY 1946 Excellent collection of items , Cardiff Rugby Past v Present programme1/5/46 at Cardiff Arms Park plus a separate scrapbook size page which includes a team list from another copy of the programme below which are the signatures of both sides, (the other side of the page includes 5 signed pictures of Indian cricketers from that period. The Cardiff signatures include Wilf Wooller, Ivor Williams, Duncan Brown, St John Rees, Bleddyn Williams, Glyn Jones, Hugh Johnson etc , 37 signatures in total.. Also included in the Lot are two press photos of Cardiff Rugby circa 1937 and another press photo of a game in the Valleys. Some creases . Fair-generally good
THE GAME OF LIFE- MACKENZIE THORPE Magnificent, signed, framed Limited edition print, "The Boy That Didn't Get A Ticket" 86/495. Part of the well-collected "The Game of Life" series, This superbly framed print shows a boy in a red and white shirt with number 7 on the back (believed to represent George Best) looking at a football stadium with a match in progress. The image size is 31 x 35 inches approximately and the complete framed item is approximately 49" x 45". Extremely limited edition and issued in 2003. Mackenzie Thorpe is a British artist with an enhanced International reputation. Born in 1956 in the North-East, Mackenzie Thorpe is now a very collectable and much-loved artist. This item comes with a certificate of authenticity which states that this unique signed limited edition "giclee print" was created to commemorate The Game of Life. Very good
READING FC 1898 Four page fold over programme, Reading v Bedminster, 8/10/1898, Southern League Division 1. First team game, both teams finished mid-table with Bedminster totalling 24 points, the same as a certain Tottenham Hotspur !! . Bedminster played one more season after this and then merged with Bristol City. Generally good
CHARLTON 57-58 Twenty two home programmes, 57-58, 20 x League ( all except v Huddersfield) plus Cup v Huddersfield and Fulham. An eventful season for Charlton who lost the last game 4-3 at home to Blackburn and missed out on promotion back to the top division by a point. Most programmes are generally good although the issue v Grimsby has punch-holes. Some minor faults. Generally good
ENGLAND SHIRT BADGE 53-4 v WALES England shirt badge for the game v Wales, 10/10/53 at Ninian Park. Believed to have belonged to Billy Wright who captained England to a 4-1 victory in a game that doubled up as a World Cup qualifier. The scoreline was apparently misleading as goalkeeper Merrick made 3 tremendous saves to keep England in the game before England scored three times in 9 minutes in the second half. Three Lions badge with game details embroidered beneath. Good
