“A Voyage Through the Clouds”, a board game of an airship voyage around Europe c 1930s, with various hazards, the coloured board approx 21” x 31”, with 5 different coloured airship “pieces”, corresponding coloured counters, and 2 dice, in its carton with coloured scene on the lid, published by J Spear & Sons, London, made by J W S & S Bavaria, retailed by Schwarz of New York. Basically GC (the box and board damaged, vacant compartment possibly for instructions); an oak board with shallow relief carving of an early airship, people and buildings, 8” x 16”; 3 plaster models advertising the Zeppelin Diner, copyrighted 1993; an unmade balsa wood model of an airship, in its carton; and several other associated items. An SB 12 bore percussion sporting gun, by Shaw & Crane, 49” overall, 3 stage twist barrel 33”, the breech with 2 platinum lines and engraved with game bird, the signed back action lock engraved with scene of game birds and dog beneath trees, the walnut stock with chequered wrist, GS fore end cap and barrel wedge plates, and vacant silver shield shaped escutcheon, the steel mounts include engraved trigger guard with chequered spur grip, with brass tipped ramrod (slightly shortened). A Fine 19th Century Chinese Reverse Painting on Glass. The rectangular panel depicting a figural scene set in landscape with elders playing a board game flanked by attendants and musician playing in a raised balcony to one side with lake & mountains in the distance. Their costumes finely detailed with gilded embellishments set in a moulded hardwood frame with key pattern border, 21 ins x 29 ins (53 cms x 74 cms).
A Small Collection of Miscellaneous Items: A Georgian cylindrical brass case engraved with feathered brickwork decoration and containing 23 gilt gaming counters with the head of George III on one side and 'IN MEMORY OF THE GOOD OLD DAYS 1797' on the other. Another gaming counter case stamped 'Mathews on the Game of Whist' to the screw-on lid and to one side of the 16 gilt metal gaming counters, with rules on the other. A card box of 'Spade Guinea Counters'. A silver cased faux tortoiseshell comb hallmarked Birmingham 1955. A folding moustache comb with wrythen reeded white metal handle and a red leather case. VERY RARE ALIEN BLASTER ; an original 1970's HG Toys Alien Blaster Giant Target Set shooting game made in the USA. Within the original box, the game appearing mostly complete with clips, gun and original instructions. The large cardboard standup alien having bell target to centre with moving hands and head. c1979. Dubbed 'one of the rarest toys on the planet' this was originally issued prior to the release of the 1979 film Alien. 20th Century Fox had sold toy companies the licenses to market games and figures based upon the script. Of course, the final film turned out to be far from child-friendly so toy companies ceased production. This is a rare survivor from a very short production period.
