Thomas Wilkinson Wallis (1822-1903): A Carved Limewood Still Life, dated 1866, carved as a Wagtail and a fly suspended on a fence backboard hung with ivy, signed T.W.WALLIS LOUTH 1866, 56cm by 33cm, in a glazed fruitwood display case, together with A Framed History of the Artist, containing reproductions of this frontispiece of Wallis`s autobiography, including an illustration of the present lot and also photocopies from a Country Life article, June 5th 1958 showing the self-portrait at the Wilberforce House, Hull where he also appears to be holding the present lot Thomas Wilkinson Wallis served his apprenticeship as a wood carver in Hull before establishing his own business in Louth in 1843 specialising in the carving of trophies of game and other birds in lime. His work can be found in Louth Museum and the Victoria & Albert Museum Section of ivy to bottom right hand side with breaks. Case with some typical minor chips and splits. 281014

An early 18th Century flintlock fowling piece, swamped barrel 40 1/4 in.. with brass bead and London proof marks, stamped `TP` at the breach, lightly engraved lock marked `T PEELE`, full stock with brass mounts, openwork side plate with game scene, ivory tipped wooden ramrod.
