A pair of Bill Tilden instructional tennis films: two 16mm reels of black and white films with sound published by The New Official Films Inc. circa 1940, the first titled BILL TILDEN'S TENNIS FOR BEGINNERS, the other BILL TILDEN'S ADVANCED TENNIS; sold together DVD copies transferred from the original footage, both films with a running time of 10mins. 24secs. In the first film Tilden guides a young protege through the rudiments of the forehand, backhand and service strokes, giving demonstrations (often in slow motion) and sound verbal advice. The film appears to have been made at a club either on the West or Florida coasts of the USA, evident by the abundance of palm trees. In the second film Tilden relates advice on the net game, volley, smash and American twist serve. .
An historic medal from the inaugural Sheriff of London Shield of 1898, in the form of a 15ct. gold and enamel medal inscribed SHERIFF OF LONDON CHAMPION SHIELD, MARCH 19TH 1898. The Football Association Community Shield, formerly known as the Charity Shield, was first competed for by Manchester United and Queen's Park Rangers in 1908. The shield directly replaced the Sheriff of London Shield, an annual match between the leading professional and amateur clubs in the gentlemen v players tradition, devised by Sir Thomas Dewar and first played for in 1898 with receipts distributed to hospitals and charities. This medal relates to the very first Shield played on 19th March 1898 between Sheffield United and Corinthians. The match ended as a draw but also in controversy as Sheffield United refused to play extra time in protest against refereeing decisions during the game. The original recipient of this medal is unknown.
Cristiano Ronaldo: a signed red Manchester United No.7 match-worn jersey season 2003-04, short-sleeved with gold Premier League champions flashes, signed on the reverse next to the '7' by Ronaldo in silver marker pen, five additional signatures of team-mates to the front in black marker pen. Ronaldo wore this shirt in the F.A. Cup tie v Blackburn Rovers in his debut season at Old Trafford. It was personally signed and presented after the game by Ronaldo.
