Issue dated 14/11/1885 consists of 16 pages (ex bound volume, split spine) and includes match reports on Preston v Bolton, Burnley v Padiham, Blackburn Rovers v Nottm Forest, Queen's Park v Airdrieonians (Cup), Corinthians v Bolton with fascinating details of the trip from Bolton to Kennington Oval. The 19/12/1885 issue has 16 pages and is also ex bound volume and includes reports on Preston North End v Corinthians, Blackburn Rovers v Aston Villa and Accrington v Darwen. The third issue, dated 28/8/1886, has 16 pages and is also ex bound volume and includes the seasons fixtures for a number of clubs including Blackburn Olympic, Bootle Wanderers, Accrington, Bolton Wanderers and Preston North End plus reports on tours of Scotland made by Bolton and Preston North End. Coverage of Everton v Darwen and Stanley (Everton played at Anfield in those days). Match reports are also included for Bolton W v Hibernians, Preston v Third Lanark, Halliwell v Walsall Swifts plus Cricket scores and coverage and Horse racing. WALES FOOTBALL CAP Wales International cap 79-80, awarded to goalkeeper Dai Davies who played for Everton, Wrexham and Swansea. The cap covers all the Internationals played by Davies in 1979-80 including the 4-1 victory over England. Davies made 52 appearances for Wales and played in every game in the 79-80 season. Also included is his programme for the 4-1 victory over England signed by 20 Welsh players and certificate of authenticity signed by Dai Davies covering both items. Good
BERT WILLIAMS - FINLAND Two hardback books presented to Bert Williams by the Finland FA after he played in the Finland v England game, 15/5/49 in Helsinki, as a souvenir of the match. One is entitled "Islands of Finland" and the other "Sports In Finland". The latter book is signed by Bert Williams. The books have match inscriptions and are in English. Generally good
SHEF WED - SAN LORENZO 1956 Two different dated Wednesday home programmes for the friendly game v San Lorenzo. One, exceedingly scarce issue is dated Wednesday January 25th 1956, the other far more common issue is dated Thursday January 26th 1956. The 25th issue has a slight fold otherwise condition is good. MAN UTD - ESTUDIANTES Three complete issues of Argentinean magazine El Grafico dated 24/9/68, 15/10/68 and 22/10/68, the first issue previews the first game in Argentina, and the other two issues preview and review the Second leg in Manchester after which Estudiantes emerged victorious. Some slight ageing otherwise good. Generally good
LIVERPOOL v MIDDLESBROUGH First home game of war aborted season 1939/40, played Weds 30 Aug 1939, vol.2 no.1. War broke out 4 days later on 3 Sept. The match was watched by 16,762 with Liverpool winning 4-1. No writing, vertical fold, part split to top and bottom of spine, slight marks/ageing. Fair/Generally good
LIVERPOOL v CHELSEA Second home game of war aborted season 1939/40, played 2 Sep, war broke out the day after. The match was watched by 19,386 with Liverpool winning 1-0, scored by Done on his debut. Eight of the Liverpool team, Kemp, Ramsden, Busby, Bush, McInnes, Fagab, Balmer and Done, only managed to get to game when colleagues agreed to stand Sentry Duty for them. Jim Harley was sent off and records show his case was never heard!! No writing, vertical fold, part split to top and bottom of spine, slight marks/ageing. Fair/Generally good
1971 UEFA CUP Athletic Bilbao v Southampton played 21 Sep 1971 at San Mames, Bilbao. Rare double header programme produced for the game which includes team line-ups and Southampton pen pictures and also covers the La Liga fixture played 19 Sept against Atletico Madrid. Produced for game v Atletico but five pages dedicated to match v Southampton and reviews first leg at The Dell and previews the Second leg in Bilbao. Good
WALES / WORLD CUP 1958 Collection of rare ephemera that was once the property of Glyn Jones a Welsh Official who travelled with the Welsh team, relating to two qualifying matches, v East Germany, played in Leipzig, East Germany, 19 May 1957, won by Wales 2-1 and v Czechoslovakia played in Prague 26 May 1957, Czechs won 2-0. Includes: scarce official folder that was probably given to Welsh officials/players, the front cover has embossed D.D.R motif, details of the game and signature of Glyn Jones. Inside there are three black and white photographs, the Leipzig Stadium of the hundred thousand, the two teams lining up before the match and festive inauguration of the Battle of Nations. Centre pages has flags from both nations and a personal hand written message in German. Measures 12" x 10" and although it is marked with ageing, this is a very interesting and unusual item; 3 postcards, one of Leipzig Stadium and the other two of places of interest from Leipzig; Leipzig cloth badge; Czechoslovakia match pennant; small leather folder with 9 black and white photographs inside including one of John Charles exchanging pennants etc; 9 x postcards mainly showing sights of Prague, with one of Berlin. Generally good
MANCHESTER UNITED - BOLTON 1949 First game back at Old Trafford for United after bomb damage left them sharing with City at Maine Road. This programme is v Bolton, 24/8/49 and has "Welcome Home ! " on front cover across a picture of Old Trafford. Programme is in good condition, no writing. Good
ENGLAND - IRELAND AT EVERTON Three programmes for Internationals v Ireland at Goodison Park, Everton. 1947, 49 and 53. The 49 game is historic as it was against the Irish Republic who won 2-0 and thus became the first overseas team to win on English Soil, Hungary being the second in 1953. The other two games are regarded as being against Northern Ireland although several Irish players appeared for the North in 1947 and the Republic in 1949. The programmes are free from writing, 49 has a small tear, and there are some folds and staples removed. Generally good

Undertaken in wartime & travelling on the (defensively equipped) passenger-cargo vessel , the 'El-Uruguayo' (the British & Argentine Steam Navigation Co.); an uneventful voyage out with generous descriptions of fellow cabin passengers (12) - those in steerage not mentioned ; games & pastimes played (including much chess with the captain), other shipping noted (etc.). It seems to be unclear as to his business in Buenos Aries - meeting (amongst others) a John Bramwell & Keith Drysdale; but much description of the city and surroundings, including gentlemens' clubs, excursions undertaken (etc.); concludes with a safe homeward voyage - early out some gunnery practice was undertaken -'we have as good a chance as any other boat, perhaps better since we are armed; the whole thing is like a game of cards, pure luck' * aprox. 158pp. in a small leather-backed notebook.
