The 1904-05 British Home Championship was an international football tournament between the British Home Nations. It was competed in the second half of the 1904-05 football season and saw England win the championship for the third time in a row with two victories and a draw. Wales, despite losing to England, came in second as part of a strong run which would result in victory at the 1907 British Home Championship. Peter Andrew Beardsley MBE (born 18 January 1961 is an English former footballer who played as a forward or midfielder between 1979 and 1999. In 1987, he set a record transfer fee in the English game and represented his country 59 times between 1986 and 1996, once as captain, taking part in two FIFA World Cups (1986 and 1990) and UEFA Euro 1988. At club level, he played for Newcastle United, Liverpool and Everton, having also had spells with Carlisle United, Manchester United, Vancouver Whitecaps, Bolton Wanderers, Manchester City, Fulham, Hartlepool United and the Melbourne Knights. Matt Holland Rep Of Ireland Football High Quality 16x12 Signed Photograph. Although born in England, Holland qualified to play for the Republic of Ireland through his grandmother who hailed from County Monaghan. He made his international debut on 9 October 1999 in an away Euro 2000 qualifier against Macedonia, playing the last five minutes as a substitute for Mark Kennedy. His first goal came on his fifth cap, the equaliser in a 1-1 draw with Portugal on 7 October 2000 in qualification for the 2002 FIFA World Cup. Holland captained the side in three internationals, the first on his 28th cap, a 2-0 friendly defeat to Scotland. He went with the Republic of Ireland to the 2002 World Cup scoring the equaliser against Cameroon in their opening game. Ireland were eliminated from this tournament in a Second-Round penalty shoot-out against Spain, with Holland among those who missed. Following Ireland's failure to qualify for the 2006 World Cup, he announced his retirement from international football on 5 February 2006 having made 49 appearances and scoring five goals. He is recognised as the fastest bowler in the history of cricket, delivering an officially recorded top speed of 161. 3 km/h in a pool match against England during the 2003 Cricket World Cup. Widely regarded as one of the greatest fast bowlers the game has known, Akhtar was nicknamed Rawalpindi Express & Tiger , as a tribute to his hometown and fast bowling.
