A FINE DIAMOND BROOCH, BY CHAUMET, CIRCA 1955Of stylised openwork design, the principal round brilliant-cut diamond weighing approximately 1.40cts within a cluster of marquise-shaped diamonds, to a triple spray of brilliant and tapered baguette-cut diamonds, mounted in platinum, remaining diamonds approximately 8.00cts, signed Chaumet, within Chaumet fitted case, length 3.8cmChaumet was founded in 1780 by Marie-Etienne Nitot, with an establishment at the heart of place Vendôme. His creativity and quality of workmanship, led him to become one of the most sought-after jewellers in Europe and thus establish a loyal and prestigious clientele. Since its inception Chaumet has preserved and continued the Parisian tradition of expertly crafted fine jewellery.The history of Chaumet has been entwined with the History of France, with Nitot and his son, Francois Regnault Nitot becoming the official jeweller to Napoleon during the Consulate and the Empire, creating tiaras, official court jewels and fashion accessories. Napoleon’s marriage to Joséphine, then to Marie-Louise of Habsburg-Lorraine, Queen Marie-Antoinette’s great-niece, resulted in some impressive commissions for Chaumet. Following the fall of the Empire, Nitot’s successors Jean-Baptiste Fossin and his son, Jules, dedicated themselves to romantic jewellery inspired by the decorative arts of the Italian Renaissance and of the French 17th-century.In 1848, Jules Fossin set up a London branch in partnership with J.V., Morel, assisted by his son Prosper. On his return to Paris in 1954, Prosper Morel joined Jules Fossin whom he succeeded in 1868. Prosper Morel’s daughter married Joseph Chaumet in 1875. With exceptional creativity and inspired by the re-enchantment of nature, Joseph Chaumet came to be recognised as an undisputed master of the Belle Époque. In 1889, Chaumet took over the company and gave his name to the house.In 2001, the LVMH Group acquired the house and entrusted the reigns to Thierry Fritsch, an art lover who revived the business, all while preserving its original spirit. Pascal Bourdariat was made the 12th head of the workshop, and as tradition dictates, a special ceremony was held for the handover to initiate the new bearer of the tradition. The house’s skill is traditionally passed down from one head of the workshop to another, without interruption, reflecting the creativity and excellence of each era.In the 1920s Chaumet’s jewellery styles became more geometric in line, following art deco style, characterised by strong contrasts in colours and materials, the use of semi-precious stones, black and white, as well as exotic inspirations. October 22] – September 26, 1820) was an American pioneer, explorer, woodsman, and frontiersman, whose frontier exploits made him one of the first folk heroes of the United States. Boone is most famous for his exploration and settlement of what is now Kentucky. It was still considered part of Virginia but was on the western side of the Appalachian Mountains from most European-American settlements. As a young adult, Boone supplemented his farm income by hunting and trapping game, and selling their pelts in the fur market. Through this occupational interest, Boone first learned the easy routes to the area. Despite some resistance from American Indian tribes such as the Shawnee, in 1775, Boone blazed his Wilderness Road from North Carolina and Tennessee through Cumberland Gap in the Cumberland Mountains into Kentucky. There, he founded the village of Boonesborough, Kentucky, one of the first American settlements west of the Appalachians. Before the end of the 18th century, more than 200,000 Americans migrated to Kentucky/Virginia by following the route marked by Boone. Boone served as a militia officer during the Revolutionary War (1775–83), which, in Kentucky, was fought primarily between the American settlers and British-allied Native Americans, who hoped to expel the Americans. Boone was captured by Shawnee warriors in 1778. He escaped and alerted Boonesborough that the Shawnee were planning an attack. Although heavily outnumbered, Americans repelled the Shawnee warriors in the Siege of Boonesborough. Boone was elected to the first of his three terms in the Virginia General Assembly during the Revolutionary War, and he fought in the Battle of Blue Licks in 1782. Blue Licks, a Shawnee victory over the Patriots, was one of the last battles of the Revolutionary War, coming after the main fighting ended in October 1781. Following the war, Boone worked as a surveyor and merchant, but fell deeply into debt through failed Kentucky land speculation. Frustrated with the legal problems resulting from his land claims, in 1799, Boone emigrated to eastern Missouri, where he spent most of the last two decades of his life (1800–20). Boone remains an iconic figure in American history. He was a legend in his own lifetime, especially after an account of his adventures was published in 1784, framing him as the typical American frontiersman. After his death, he was frequently the subject of heroic tall tales and works of fiction. His adventures—real and legendary—were influential in creating the archetypal frontier hero of American folklore. In American popular culture, he is remembered as one of the foremost early frontiersmen. The epic Daniel Boone mythology often overshadows the historical details of his life.

Good condition, creasing, foxing. County: UK, year of printing:1983, designer: Unknown, size (cm): 56x41. Tangerine Dream is a German electronic music band founded in 1967 by Edgar Froese. The group has seen many personnel changes over the years, with Froese having been the only continuous member until his death in January 2015. The best-known lineup of the group was its mid-70s trio of Froese, Christopher Franke, and Peter Baumann. In the late 1970s, Johannes Schmoelling replaced Baumann. Since Froese's death in 2015, the group has been under the leadership of Thorsten Quaeschning (Froese's chosen successor and the current longest-serving band member, having joined in 2005). Tangerine Dream are considered pioneers of the early days of electronica. Their work with the Ohr electronic music label produced albums that had a pivotal role in the development of the German musical scene known as kosmische ("cosmic"). Their "Virgin Years", so called because of their association with Virgin Records, produced albums that further explored synthesizers and sequencers, including the UK top 20 albums Phaedra (1974) and Rubycon (1975). The group also had a successful career composing film soundtracks, creating over 60 scores, which include those for the films Sorcerer, Thief, Risky Business, The Keep, Firestarter, Legend, Three O'Clock High, Near Dark, Shy People, Miracle Mile, and Identification of a Woman. From the late 1990s into the 2000s, Tangerine Dream continued to explore other styles of instrumental music and electronica. Their recorded output has been prolific, including over one hundred albums. Among other scoring projects, they helped create the soundtrack for the video game Grand Theft Auto V. Their mid-1970s work has been profoundly influential in the development of electronic music styles such as new age (although the band themselves disliked the term) and electronic dance music. Their most recent album, Quantum Gate, was released on September 29, 2017, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the founding of the band. The album is based on ideas and musical sketches by founder Edgar Froese and was completed by the remaining members of the band.
