A small Knurr & Spell wooden ball c1890 with hand cut squares – one grain crack, otherwise retaining good shape. Note: The game originated in the moors of Yorkshire in England, and can be traced back to the beginning of the 14th century. It is played with a wooden trap which throws the Knurr - about the size of a walnut – into the air, which is struck by the player with the spell, the winner being, the one who hits the knurr the furthest distance. The spell consists of a four foot long stick made of ash or lance wood and a pummel approx 6x4x1”, swung in similar style to a golf club.

Movie Set of Clubs – the following two lots were used in the making of the film “The Greatest Game Ever Played.” The producers contracted with Ralph Livingston to provide various golf clubs for the above film as contained in the following two sets of clubs. Fine set of golf clubs which were used by the Harry Vardon character in the film The Greatest Game played by actor Stephen Dillane - the set comprises 2 matching dark stained woods to incl a Spalding Autograph brassie and a similar style spoon – both with brass sole plates together with 4x Tom Stewart irons incl Vardon cleek, Chas Arundel Delamere mid iron, a James Gourlay mashie niblick, and T Stewart Niblick plus 2x putters incl Brown Vardon pat stamped with Gibson Star and D Anderson St Andrews Glory off set blade (8) – together with a period webbing made pencil golf bag (9). Note: comes c/w copy of the DVD and script which was marked up by Ralph at that time indicating when the clubs were used
Fine set of golf clubs used by the Francis Quimet character in the film The Greatest Game played by the actor Shia LeBoeuf – the set comprises a matching set of Butchart woods to incl a driver, brassie and spoon all with matching black fibre face inserts plus another brassie by Butchart together with 7x Tom Stewart irons incl FO/RTJ no.1 iron, Mongrel mashie, RTJ mashie, et al and a wry neck putter in all (12). All contained in a period leather and canvas pencil golf bag not used in the film (13)

Scarce and early Garton Toy Co Sheboygan Wisconsin Lawn/garden Golf putting game in makers original pine boxc1930s – comprising 1-9 holes including all the flags, and various obstacles no. 1-9, a lawn hole cutter and 2x metal cup holes – box measures 34.5x 15x 5.5”. Note: Research shows that in 1938 the company was advertising “Wheel Goods and Sleds for 60 years” hence The Garton Toy Co goes back to a least 1878
1890 Demorest’s Family Magazine (US-monthly) Vol. XXVI no. 12, with one of the earliest articles on ladies golf titled “The Game of Golf for Ladies” with 5 illustrations of Victorian ladies playing golf, incl Lofting Over a Stymie, Teeing the Ball, In a Bunker, and Putting, together with “Plan of golf Links at Minehead, England.” Covers are generally worn, split, with minor nicks and a portion lost to the back cover. Internally clean.
1869 – Liverpool Golf Club Formation/Opening. 1869 “The Scotsman, Edinburgh”, newspaper dated Wed. June 9, 1869 – announcing the formation of Liverpool Golf Club at Hoylake - on p. 7, 4th and 5th columns – the details such as “The Scotch residents in Liverpool to form a golf club…” another “The Scotch national game of golf was played for the first time on the ground, which should the club prosper…” The first round of golf was between Geo. Morris St Andrews (brother of Tom Morris) and Mr. Robert Chambers of Edinburgh, ex-amateur champion; followed by a foursomes match, including Mr. Dunn (Warrington) and Mr. Morris against Mr. Chambers and Mr. Leslie of Liverpool (acting secretary). The match ended in a draw, followed by the final round of the day between Mr. Chambers and Mr. Dunn, which concluded shortly after 6:00. Note: Liverpool Golf Club is the third oldest golf club in England and one would say, with reference to the above, has prospered having held nearly every major golfing competition since its inception in 1869 incl both Professional and Amateur Tournaments

GWR boxed Game `Race To The Ocean Coast`, manufactured by Chad Valley for the Great Western Railway. Complete except the Shaker (as normal) containing the board, three locomotives and the original instructions. Overall extremely good, the box is quite good but does have some edge splitting. The box image is extremely good and depicts King Class 6000 storming forward.

Selection of Bonzo the dog items - two Spear`s Bonzo games: Bonnie McBonzo, quoits game with card Bonzo balancing bone on nose, and eight quoits (VG in VG box); The Bonzo Chase, by George Studdy, comprising illustrated card playing board, six wooden counters, and a die (VG in G/VG box). Together with three Bonzo Annuals, Dean and Son Ltd.: 1937; 1948; 1949. (all G), `Bonzo the Life and Work of George Studdy` (Paul Babb and Gay Owen), a Valentine`s Bonzo Series Postcard `I Wish I Could Join You!`, and a Bonzo Advertising Card - commissioned to Geroge Studdy by Sir Frank Bowden to promote his company Be-Ze-Be Busy Bee Jams and Honey in the 1940`s (the original artwork for which, has unfortunately been lost). Chad Valley Bird Shooting Game, comprises: wooden fence with hinged feet, and five wooden birds on revolving pole, `No Shooting Allowed` sign to one end, together with a wood/tinplate gun marked `Bandit Repeater` (for use with elastic bands). Each bird is attached to a wooden block and when shot the birds fall back to reveal a score on the block. Length 31cm, height 14.5cm. Overall F, one bird has come unattached from block and two birds missing head feathers, corrosion to metal parts on gun.
Wild West Shooting Range game, made in England: four card wild west figures stapled to a wire which is attached to the box base, together with a metal spring loaded gun with three wooden `bullets`. The aim is to knock down the figures, each of which has a score. G in G box with instructions inside lid (graffiti to inner lid).

The Archers 1960s Chad Valley Game: First produced: 1960s Number of players: 3 to 7. Object of the game: Each player starts with £200, a farm card and farmer for moving around the board. The player`s farm card represents the visible assets of a farm including livestock, crops and tractors. Players move around the game board purchasing livestock in auctions and buying tractors. Players earn money by landing on squares which allow them to sell crops at a specific price. The first player to stock their farm by covering all the squares on their farm is the winner. The seventh player acts as auctioneer and banker. Appears complete
2002 US Game Ghettopoly: Game consists of Buying stolen properties, pimpin hoes, building crack houses and projects, paying protection fees and getting car jacked are some of the elements of the game. Not dope enough?...If you don`t have the money that you owe to the loan shark you might just land yourself in da Emergency Room (This game was banned because of the content)
