A rare and unusual believed late 19th century Chinese bronze and pewter made game counter. The surface decorated with crane birds amongst the flora. Each edge featuring bone counters decorated with various insects, inlaid with mother of pearl, tortoiseshell and other such decorative inlays. Measures approx; 9.5cm long x 6cm wide.
Circle of Ferdinand Pautrot (1832-1874) - a pair of 19th century French bronze game birds in the manner of Pautrot. Realistically modelled as if being 'hung', both with legs extended and in the manner of birds seen in Old Master paintings. One probably a grouse (37cm long) and the other likely a Snipe (35cm long). The Snipe with one loosely pinned wing, both with holes to the flat backs to allow them to be mounted.
An England home match worn shirt, obtained by Welsh Outside-Left Edward Vizard after the British Championship game against England, 13 March 1911, which England won 3-0. This game was Vizard's third cap for Wales, and the first time he faced England. The original player who wore the shirt is unknown.Provenance: the shirt was obtained by the vendor's mother in 1971 when Vizard was clearing his home. The vendor's mother was Vizard's cleaner for many years, and the item was given to her as a gift, and has been in the family ever since.
