BILLY'S NOMADS SIGNED FOOTBALL SHIRT & BOOT BAG. From his time playing for the Los Angeles club. Both Adidas with blue shirt size XL. Shirt signed by Billy. “I obviously picked the colour on this... City blue... though with ‘Uruguay’ black shorts so it didn't look too cheesy.” “When the World Cup came to the USA in 1994 Ian got well connected with Adidas and we got quite close with some of the US players and the coach. We had a pick up with game mostly British guys and it evolved into a team called the Nomads. We even got Adidas to make us the shirts and it was just a fun thing at a time when football was getting a lot of interest in America. We played in a league and we were pretty good and a lot of the guys we are still friends with 30 years later. Believe it or not I was actually the goal scoring striker and not because I ran the team... hahaha. Ian always played on the right.. the wing, midfield and even full back. Hollywood United was another team connected and a lot of the guys played for both including Ian for a while. Later I played for them but not at the same time as Ian.”

Lot 5

BILLY'S BELOVED MANCHESTER CITY FOOTBALL CLUB. Collection of clothing, memorabilia and ephemera relating to Billy's great love; Manchester City Football Club. Included here: six season ticket books for seasons 72-73, 73-74, 74-75, three in Billy's name and three in his fathers' (also William Duffy), a wooden City rattle, four scarves and a woollen hat, a hand stitched cap dated 1968 and bearing names of the City squad who won the league that year, a sky blue long sleeved polo shirt, a blue circa 1970s Manchester City shirt with 'WH Duffy' stitched to label with matching socks, a Manchester City book created as a school project and marked (somewhat harshly!) 'Well tried'. “I first went to the football in 1968 with my brother and sister in law for a home game against Burnley which we won. I then went with my Dad (you can see our Platt Lane Season Tickets here) until I got older and started going with my mates, standing on the Kippax up until I left Manchester in 1979. Since then I'll always try and get to games when I can and went fairly regularly when I was back living in England in the nineties. The scarf on the left with the weird City logo (that looks vaguely like a Utd one) is my “Lucky” scarf that I had on at the game during the Aguero 93:20 moment when we put the curse to bed and won the Premier League in 2012”
