Both volumes inscribed to Rev. J Milner in remembrance of HMS Galatea, 1 June 1871, and signed: Alfred, Duke of Edinburgh and also the captain of HMS Galatea. (Milner nursed the Duke to health after he was shot in the back by a Fenian (a member of the Irish Republican Brotherhood) on 10 March 1868, during an official visit to Sydney, NSWales).
