BURTON, Robert - The Anatomy of Melancholy : what it is, with all the kinds causes, symptomes, prognostickes, & severall cures of it - half title and engraved title-page trimmed in the fore-margin and worn, as are the following two leaves, front paste down lacking, pp259 (L1) has a long closed tear without any loss,printer appears to have inserted a duplicate page here. pp 479 and 477 misbound but present, lower corner to final leaf of the "table" torn with loss of several words, some light staining mainly to the same corner, soiling especially to title, ends at Aaaaa4. Folio. Cont. calf raised bands rubbed and torn on spine, inner hinge pulling but held firm. 1638.
MOLL, Herman - A New Description of England and Wales: 44 ex. county maps, half calf worn oblong folio, lacks all before the map of Cornwall which is heavily soiled and repaired in margin, small stain to the corner of the three west country maps, heavier stain to Cumberland. West Riding trimmed in outer margin with loss of the border of antiquities, a very light stain to most others just appears as a light discolouration, c1724. *Herman Moll uniquely devised his set of maps to have 'local' antiquities engraved in their margins. * Sold with all faults not subject to return

Spencer Horatio Walpole, matching previous items, two large folding plans,1852. * all eight volumes are presentation copies to The RIGHT HON. WILLIAM EWART GLADSTONE, highly influential nineteenth century politician being four times prime minister, he was a commissioner for the 1851 Great Exhibition. A superb and rare set, with immaculate provenance.(8)
