Fishing Laws. Bairische Landtsordnung, 2 vols. in 1, Ingoldstadt, 1553, printed in red and black, folding woodcut title of the Elector of Bavaria Albrecht V, on his throne, trimmed, with repaired sections to verso, 3 folding plates with woodcuts of ten fish, first plate with tape repair along fold affecting image, repair and short tear along fold of third plate, one further full-page woodcut of crustaceans, some worming and repairs, mostly marginal, sometimes affecting text, leaves E3 & E4 loose, second folding title with woodcut coat-of-arms, some mostly marginal dampstaining and soiling, later mottled calf, spine gilt, a little rubbed and scuffed, small folio One of the earliest books on fish and laws relating to fishing. *America - New Hampshire. A late 18th/early 19th c. document entitled "A State of all Transactions relative to the Lands forfeited by the Grantees in the province of New Hampshire from July 1767, The time of Governor Wentworths Arrival in the Government to the Middle of the Month of April 1772 the time that Mr. Livius left the province. Extracted from the Minutes of the Council", (London, 1772), two double folio leaves written to one side only, neat repairs to folds, approx. 423 x 339mm, contained in purpose-made slipcase. An interesting document relating to the settlement of New Hampshire. Arranged in tabular form, in columns giving the name of the township, the date when the petition for a re-grant was entered, the names of the petitioners, a brief summary of the petition and the "Determination of the Council". The "determinations" were for re-grants to the original grantees for a limited number of years in which time they were supposed to fulfil the terms of the grant. The list contains many names of towns now existing, in all 28 townships are listed. (1)
Ceremonial Dress. Seven scrap albums of photographs, newspaper and magazine cuttings etc, late 19th/20th c., featuring Royal, military and political figures of the day in official ceremonial costume, all with manuscript inventory numbers and explanitory notations, folio. This collection was formed as the basis of a proposed publishing project by Dr. C. D'Olivier Farran, an author of law books. (7)
