VS (Veit Rudolf Specklin) u. schon für die Ausgabe 1531 verwendet; einige Schnitte werden Hans Asper zugeschrieben (Vgl. Leemann-van Elck, Zürcherische Buchillustration, S. 32-34 mit Abb., Schmidt, Illustr. der Lutherbibel S. 174 u. Nagler, Monogr. V, 1365). - Im ersten Teil fehlen die Bl. 1 u. 2, Bl. 4 mit hs. The woodcuts (mostly Old Testament and Apocalypse, primary designated for a Lyon bible-edition) after H. Holbein drawings, engraved by 'VS' (= Veit Rudolf Specklin), some engravings propably by Hans Asper. Contemporary pigskin over wooden boards with ten metal fittings on the covers and 9 (of 12) metal fittings on spine. Part one missing the leaves 1 and 2, first quire heavily repaired, leave 4 text complemented in handwriting. Part two missing the leaves 1, 262 and 313 (leave 313 complemented in handwriting). Last quire heavily repaired, leaves 72, 104 and 105 with imperfections complemented in handwriting, leaves 316 and 317 with some loss of text and image. Shopsoiling throughout and many leaves with repaired margins. Two metal clasps renewed. Binding rubbed and with wormtraces.
