*George V (King of England, 1865-1936). Document signed, 3rd March 1910, a printed commission with manuscript insertions appointing Edwin Poulden Fenton Stamper to the rank of 2nd Lieutenant in the Special Reserve of Officers, signed at head above wafer seal George R. I., vertical folds, oblong folio. A curiosity as it is a printed form detailing King Edward VIIs details but clearly signed by George V. King Edward VII had been staying at Biarritz in March 1910 when he collapsed. He remained there to convalesce and his continued ill health was unreported. He returned to Buckingham Palace on 27th April and died on 6th May 1910. It would seem that the then Prince of Wales signed as though he were already King. (1)

Herefordshire Elections. A good collection of printed broadsides and tracks issued during a number of Parliamentary and City elections between 1817 and 1835, a total of fifty-nine separate items, mostly in excellent order, a few short tears repaired, some items washed and a few mounted, sizes ranging from small 8vo to large folio, all arranged roughly chronologically and separately attached to album guards and modern buckram, sl. rubbed, folio. A complete list of this important collection is available on request. Six of the items bear the signature of John Gwilliam Jnr. The first item in this collection is addressed to Thomas Andrew Knight, the Horticulturalist, then living in Downton Castle, by a Freeman of Hereford. Twenty-four items are in verse, including three pamphlets or tracts: Selections from the Comedy of the Election and Performing at Different Theatres in the City; Speeches on Non Voters ... at a Private Meeting; and The Observer, No. 2, July 22, 1837.
