Antiquarian. Fox, John; Madan, Rev. (ed.) - The Book of Martyrs: Containing an Account of the Sufferings and Death of the Protestants in the Reign of Queen Mary the First. London: Printed and Sold by John Fuller, dated 1760 at foot of engraved title and 1761 at foot of preface to the reader. Illustrated with 58 copper-engraved plates. Folio, 717pp plus list of martyrs and plate of Popish Priest falling from the pulpit. No frontispiece. Well worn leather binding, front board detached, spine coming away with loss. Repairs to margins of some leaves. A few loose plates. Text-block remains square and fairly tight due to the presence of brass clasps on the fore-edges of the boards. An uncommon edition. (1)

Stalker (John) [and George Parker], A Treatise on Japaning and Varnishing, being a compleat Discovery of those Arts, first edition, title trimmed, not affecting text, 19 engraved plates only (of 24), 6 with holes, 1 or 2 with short tears, occasional near contemporary manuscript inscriptions, loss to foot D1 affecting text (approx. 12 lines), occasional staining and spotting, tender edges, unbound, stitching perished, sheets loose in near contemporary paper wrappers, rubbed and stained, [Wing S5187C], folio, Oxford, for, and sold by the Author, 1688.⁂ Often incomplete. The author recommended that the plates be removed and used as patterns.
NO RESERVE Botany.- Australia.- Bauer (Ferdinand).- Brown (Robert) The Miscellaneous Botanical Works, Atlas vol. only, 38 engraved plates, many after Ferdinand Bauer, 11 folding, one trimmed with loss to caption, water-staining to inner margin extending into plate and sometimes just touching edge of image, text loose and frayed at fore-edge, contemporary half roan, very worn and stained, covers becoming loose, folio, Ray Society, 1868.⁂ Comprising 10 large folding engraved plates after Bauer for Flinders' Voyage to Terra Australis of 1814, printed from the original copper plates. The remaining plates are mostly from Linnean Transactions, newly engraved, including several of Rafflesia Arnoldii or the Stinking Corpse Lily, the largest flower on earth.
Husbandry.- Hale (Thomas) A Compleat Body of Husbandry, first edition, engraved frontispiece and 12 plates, one folding, frontispiece rebound, title a little soiled but overall a very good clean copy, contemporary paneled calf, lightly rubbed, spine label worn with loss, [Fussell I, pp.37-38; Goldsmiths' 9099; Kress 5528; Hunt 556; Perkins 737], folio, for T.Osborne and J.Shipton, 1756.

TOMKINSON; 'Bone, Muscle and Sinew', a portfolio of anatomical studies of the basic structures influencing the configuration of the human form, a remarkable hand drawn and annotated folio produced in 1947 with detailed drawings and descriptions, hard boards, the boards measure 55 x 38.5cm.Additional InformationIn remarkably good condition, some light foxing in parts but a wonderful piece.
A Rare Nineteenth-Century Iron Works Studio Catalogue Illustrated Catalogue of Statuary, Fountains, Vases, Settees, etc. For Parks, Gardens and Conservatories, Manufactured by the J.L. Mott Iron Works New York: E.D. Slater, 1875. First edition. Folio. Profusely illustrated with dozens of examples of fountains, basins, benches, and other statuary from the J.L. Mott Iron Works studio. Original full brown cloth-covered flexible boards, stamped in blind and in gilt, lightly worn; front hinge repaired; scattered wear and chipping to plates; dampstaining along top and bottom edge of front paste-down, as well as faintly present on first few leaves, and in bottom gutter at rear; rear free endpaper loose; in modern full brown cloth portfolio. Together with: "Lamp Pillars. Supplement to Illustrated Catalogue of Ornamental Department of the J.L. Mott Iron Works, 1877".J.L. Mott Iron Works was established in 1828 in by Jordan L. Mott, originally producing coal fueled cooking-stoves. Mott's son, J.L. Mott Jr., expanded the manufactoring of the company to include fountains, basins, benches, and other decorative statuary. Their grand designs were famously showcased at the 1876 Centennial Exhibition in Philadelphia, featuring a 25 foot tall cast iron fountain. Avant garde artist Marcel Duchamp memorably used one of Mott's urinals for his 1917 readymade "Fountain".
