Here he employs pochoir, a hand-stencilling technique popular in the first decades of the 20th century, to produce colourful, abstract plates.

Dedicated to the Czechoslovak army, it was published in May 1938 - in the last months of the existence of the First Republic, when the threat to national security was clearly felt. Paper label on box reads 'Bookstore and publishing house of the Czechoslovak Union. Officers Prague...'.

Minutes of Evidence...for the better Regulation of Madhouses, in England, tear to Ii2 rather crudely repaired, 25 May - 26 June 1815; Report from the Committee on Madhouses in England, bound before Fourth Report, 8 engraved plates/plans, 6 folding or double-page, light foxing and offsetting, 11 July 1815 bound with 8 Acts/Bills for regulating Madhouses, 1814-16, together bound in 1 vol., old red ink library stamp to title of first report, modern boards, folio ⁂ Important series of reports relative to the treatment of the insane and the regulation of madhouses. Together they form a milestone survey of the conditions and treatment of the insane in public and private asylums with information on the design of buildings, the conduct of physicians, apothecaries, owners, and keepers, diet, clothing, medical treatments (especially modes of restraint), administration fees, costs etc. The first report includes the evidence of Edward Wakefield, a land agent, whose account of the inhumane shackling of William Norris in Bethlehem Hospital was instrumental in bringing about reforms.

The Commissioners in Lunacy were appointed in 1843, with Anthony Ashley Cooper (later 7th Earl of Shaftesbury) as chairman. Cooper spent much of his life campaigning for the improvement of conditions for the insane although he is mainly remembered today for his efforts regarding child labour, particularly chimney sweeps.

It was also the basis of the first translation into Italian.

It contains 84 large-format miniatures, along with numerous gilt borders and initials.

Kneller" for Kneller's annuity of eighteen pounds from the Exchequer, issued by Lord Dupplin ('one of the Four Tellers of Her Majesty's Receipt') and witnessed by Philippe Moreau, printed with manuscript insertions, 1p., laid down and strengthened with some loss of the printed text, fold, browned, folio, 1 April 1712.⁂ Lord Dupplin, eighth Earl of Kinnoull (1689-1758). He took the title Viscount Dupplin from 1709 when his father became earl.
