These two publications along with the later Report on the State of Agriculture and Trade @countain most valuable evidence concerning life and conditions in the two colonies.@ Ferguson @Bigge`s reports had a profound influence on the future constitutional and political development of Australia and have a place in any Australian collection.... The reports in one form or another are very scarce...` Wantrup. Sir William Molesworth was the author of a similar report concerning transportation to Australia published in 1838.

Kuhnert (Wilhelm Friedrich) Studies of wild boar at rest Ceylon pencil drawing 305 x 465mm. signed dated and indistinctly inscribed with location in Ceylon framed and glazed 1906; with a copy of Richard Lydekker`s `Animal Portraiture Being Fifty Studies by Wilhelm Kuhnert` vignette title and 50 mounted coloured plates dampstaining affecting title prelims index first three and last two plates last gatherings loose boards defective folio Frederick Warne Co. 1912 (2) *** Wilhelm Kuhnert (1865-1926) trained at the Royal Academy in Berlin specialising in animal painting under Paul Meyerheim as well as landscape painting under Ferdinand Bellerman. Studying animals in Berlin zoo engendered a desire to travel to Africa to portray them in their natural environment. Through the explorer and naturalist Hans Meyer he was commissioned to illustrate Brehms Tierbuilder from the proceeds of which and with Meyer`s safari equipment he made his first trip to East Africa in 1891. He was granted the medal of honour when his paintings were exhibited in Berlin in 1893. He returned to Africa in 1905 but rather than returning to his wife and daughter after a year he detoured to Ceylon during which trip this drawing was produced not returning to Germany until 1908. He wife had divorced him in 1907. Kuhnert returned to Africa again in 1911 and published two major works on African animals in 1920 Im Lande Meiner Modelle and Mein Tierre.
