Lot 16

Battle of Britain so few multiple signed rare book. A Folio Dedicated to All Who Fought and Won the Battle of Britain, 10th July - 31st October 1940, pub. 1990. The volume has twenty-five profile portraits in silhouette of Battle of Britain pilots and bomber crewmen, each silhouette signed by the subject with photographic portraits and other illusts, facsimile letters and documents etc, a biography of each individual, a. e. g, orig. dark blue goatskin, lettered and decorated in gilt, `So Few` with RAF embroidered wings inset to upper cover. Numbered 45 of 401 copies, signed by Michael Pierce and members of the creative team. Issued to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Battle of Britain and to recognise and celebrate the courage and heroism of the thousands of fighting men who stayed the westward advance of the Nazi menace, many of whom paid the supreme sacrifice. Minor scuffs on back of slipcase bottom on some, the odd very tiny scratch on a few slipcases, hardly noticeable. There are differences in tone to the colour of the spines - maybe very slight light fading due to position on bookcase? Oliver Twist is in a different colour much lighter slip case than all the others.  However, nothing major, inside they are in pristine condition.
