DECORATIVE 'JOTTINGS' - a 'high Victorian' artistic album, lovingly realised by a 'D.J. O' Neill'; gilt-decorated morocco, gilt-lettered as quote-marked above, folio, some 85 consecutive pages used, (ca. 1867-1881); * a quite extraordinary compilation of coloured and pen & ink sketches (executed to virtually a professional standard) illustrating various family occasions - births, holidays, sickness & convalescence, birthdays and the like; all within ruled, coloured & decorative borders, some illus. heightened with gold. The artist / writer appears to have travelled extensively in Britain on business matters; some entries may be 'extra-illustrated' copies of earlier letters. Yet another fine example of Victorian endeavour in this field - and here by the paterfamilias himself.
