He lived in Germany for most of his early adult life where he commanded the Hanoverian Guards. A village in Hanover (Adolphsdorf) was named after him. A basic internet search has failed to find a published work under this title though it is possible that the 'title' relates to ownership or presentation rather than the name of the work.].

Eshton Hall, Gargrave.Day Book 1849 - 1851.A folio ledger with detailed accounts for the period, diary entries give more historical information and commentary than normally found in such accounts. Red and black manuscript. Vellum binding with some staining.Eshton Hall was owned at this time by Miss Frances Mary Richardson Currer (1785 - 1861) who has been described as 'England's earliest female bibliophile'. Miss Currer had a library of more than 18,000 books at Eshton Hall and was visited by Dibdin who wrote '... with the exception of Althorpe, Chatsworth and Stowe, I know of no such collection in the country which can pretend to break a lance with it'. Charlotte Bronte was an admirer of Miss Currer and adopted her name as part of her pseudonym, Currer Bell. Parliamentary papers of this early date, prior to 1835 when they were made more generally available, are scarce.

XV, original cloth, paper label to spine, surface soiling, one or two small stains or manuscript markings, folio, ex-libris Home Office, 1830-31.⁂ Amazingly detailed reports from the officials appointed by the British government to monitor the conditions and treatment of slaves in each colony, and to serve as a point to collect and relay details of grievances. Contains a wealth of detail on individual plantations and indeed individual slaves and their punishments. Parliamentary papers prior to 1835, when they were made more generally available, are scarce.
