About 20 photographs are concerned with the 1916 Mohmand Rising on the North-West Frontier, compiled by an officer with No.6 Mountain Battery Royal Garrison Artillery. Most are postcard-size. Four detailed photos are large and depict military scenes - two are annotated: "No18 Mool Chand Camp Subhan Khwar NWFP 3/10/15 No6 MBRGA Camp North West Frontier during the quelling of the Mohmand Rising 1916" and "6MBRGA Crossing the Kabul River on way Shabkader - Baljee". (Womersley Estate, Yorkshire) The Estate account books, giving details of tenants, workers, rents, crops, buildings, servants, etc. The earliest books contain entries from the 1690's, others complete the picture down to the early twentieth century. The books for the eighteenth century and prior are mostly vellum-bound (including one in green vellum with clasps), more recent books are in a variety of sizes ranging from folio ledgers to pocketbooks. Also present: a dozen West-Riding Almanacks (1843-45 1847-51 1853-55 & 1859); two copies of the Womersley Estate Sale Catalogue of 1930 (one with the plans in the rear pocket, one without); two small bundles of legal documents (including "1869 The late Right Hon Lord Hawke - Schedule of Title Deeds in the Iron Safe at Womersley"); & a pair of illustrations published 1757 (a chart of the coastal area around Aix, and a plan of Aix - taken by the English navy under the orders of Sir Edward Hawke. (Cookery recipe book) A small folio volume in full leather (both boards detached, much used condition), with about 60 leaves used for recipes. At least three different hands are distinguishable, one Victorian but two earlier. Of the earlier hands the more prolific marked the front pastedown "Ann Osbaldeston her receat Book May the 26 1706". The name Mary Hardwick appears on another leaf. The recipes include Broome Flower Oyntement, A Green Pease Soupe, To Make Cachup, Queen Marys Mouth Water given me by Sr William Hustler, To Make Callf Feet Jelley, For the Green Sicknas, To Make Lemmon Chiskaks, etc.
