Act for Making Compensation & Satisfaction to The Royal African Company of England, for their Charter, Lands, Forts, Castles, Slaves, Military Stores, and Other Effects, 1751, Black Letter, 60pp, disbound, folio. Charles II by Letters Patent granted the rights of Africa to the Royal African Company and this important Act, which includes listings of slaves, saw the Crown purchasing back the rights to Africa. Copy will of William Beckwith of Bootham in the parish of St. Marygate,York, gentleman, dated 1781 (no probate noted), concerning property at Cottingham, Horton in Ribblesdale, Craven, Knaresborough, Dunnington, Heslington and Clayhill, six folios of paper, last folio slightly damaged, together with an unidentified manorial document of 13 folios, being lists of tenants, possibly those surrendering and those being admitted to property, and a sum of money, possibly the heriot, no indication of location or date but likely to be Yorkshire, mid to late 17th century; also a warrant to the Sheriff to form a jury to divide the lands of the late Sir John Hotham, 1645; and a House of Lords case concerning Sir Simon Leachs property in Yorkshire and Devon, undated, late 17th c.
