‘Private Calender (sic) January 1795'.A very detailed diary with manuscript entries from the 1st January 1795 to the 13th September 1802. A note identifies the author as Stephen Wilson who died on the 7th of December 1813 in New Ormond Street, aged 60.Folio. 233 pages of entries. The writer records his life in London, particularly around Hackney and Bethnal Green. A silk manufacturer, he lived in Spitalfields and then Cheapside. An in-depth account of the family, including reference to the ‘Private Calender’ is given by Malcolm J. Harrison in ‘Unravelling the Threads: A Guide to the Wilsons of Stenson in the County of Derbyshire 1664 to 1880’, 2008, p. 78-87. Original vellum boards with functional re-backing.

The front pastedown bears an early bookseller’s cropped catalogue entry describing it as ‘A Noble Old Scrap Book’ … ‘nearly contemporary with the Nuremberg Chronicle’. A very large folio album bound in full morocco (worn) with faded gilt-tooled spine. Overall dimensions approx 565mm x 435mm x 100mm.
