Portugal, Portel.- Maria I (Queen of Portugal, 1734-1816) Appointment of the judge Estevão José Pereira Palha to the hereditary position of scribe ad accountant of the town of Portel on the death of his father, D.s. "A Rainha", manuscript in Portuguese, on vellum, 3pp. with docket on verso, paper seal, folds, yellowed, folio, Lisbon, 15th October 1781.
New Forest.- Legal submission by a small proprietor in the New Forest to the Select Committee of the House of Commons, manuscript, 16pp., numerous corrections and crossings out, slightly browned, unbound, folio, Burley Lawn, New Forest, October 1848.⁂ A draft of a legal submission by a landowner relating to drainage of land in the New Forest, and written in response to the House of Commons Report on the New Forest in 1848. The select committee was dissolved in 1849, and replaced by a Royal Commission. Both made recommendations for the use of the New Forest, the deer population, the use of waterways and the rights of the common landowners.
Rochdale & London Life.- Montgomerie (of Wingfield, Epping, Essex) Tales of a Grandfather, vol. I only, manuscript, 184pp., 6pp. of photographs at beginning and end, 1f. torn right across not affecting photographs, slightly browned, original cloth-backed boards, rubbed and creased, hinge and joint crudely repaired with tape, folio, Wingfield, Epping, Essex, 1943.⁂ An account of early life growing up in Rochford, marriage to his wife Joan, and London life in the 1890s. Includes weekends at country houses and London theatre life.

And are to be sold at the seven Stars in Fleetstreet, over against Dunstans Church, 1659.⁂ The rarer of two issues, with ESTC recording only one copy (Christ Church, Oxford). Giving a complete list under counties of those 'Appointed to be Commissioners of the Militia of the several Counties and Places hereafter named of England and Wales, and Town of Berwick upon Tweed.'. A reorganisation of the Militia under the Protectorship of Richard Cromwell.
