Not long afterwards they employed Francis Towne to sketch on their land on and around Exmoor. Their orders for studio versions and other sketches from him made them Towne's major documented client of the post-Italy phase of his career. Binding is worn around edges and seam. Some of the images have foxing and are stuck down, others have been mounted and removed and stained in teh process. There are dog ears to some of the images. Folio has various loose leaves, some tears to the folio mounts. One image appears to have been torn out from one page. A couple of images have small tears. All have general wear and tear conducive with age to include discolouration, staining, foxing as already mentioned, thumbed edges etc. See website for images for further details and advise viewing in person. The volume is not inscribed with owner's details, there are various inscriptions to some of the drawings and water colours including artists initials, titles etc. Sizes vary between 4 cm x 7 cm - 30 cm x 23 cm, including many differing sizes

FRENCH REVOLUTION: A good multiple signed document, one page, folio, Paris, 5th March 1795, to Margueritte Françoise Le Sueur, in French. The partially printed document being the minutes of a National Convention decree. Signed at the base, 31st March 1795, by Révellière-Lépeaux, Balmain and Vicquy, in their capacity as `Representantives of the population and secretaries of the National Convention´. The National Convention created during the French Revolution approves a widow´s military pension in favour of Margueritte Le Sueur, widow of Jean Baptiste Bouteleux `dying the 26th July 1793, after two months and fourteen days serving, in the sum of three hundred and twenty pounds.´ The document bears at the bottom a paper seal affixed in very good condition, showing a National Convention blind embossed seal. Extremely small creasing, otherwise VG £80-100 Louis Marie De La Révellière-Lépeaux (1753-1824) French Lawyer, Deputy of the National Convention and leader of the French Directory. Jacques Antoine Balmain (1751-1828) French Lawyer, Deputy of the National Convention. Jean Nicolas Vicquy (1737-1814) Jean Baptiste Bouteleux was one of the 88 Republican soldiers dead during the War in the Vendée

[MARIANA OF AUSTRIA]: (1634-1696) Queen Consort of Spain 1649-65, second wife of King Philip IV. Manuscript Document, bearing a stamped signature (´Yo La Reyna´), one page, folio, Madrid, 20th September 1666, in Spanish. The document is addressed to Don Rodrigo de Borja Lanzol, Captain General in Mallorca. The Queen refers to the decisions taken at the Supreme Council, and reports that it has been approved that in two months time all salaries and other amounts dues and approved will have to be paid to the Ministers and members of the Supreme Council. With a paper seal affixed, and several countersignatures at the base of the document. Very few small holes, none affecting the signature. G £100-120

The King of Saxony responds to his correspondent´s letter from 19th July and sends his best wishes for the good news reporting on the new born Prince in his Royal House. Carefully signed in bold black ink. Countersigned by Johannes de Minckiditz. With blank integral leaf. Accompanied by the original envelope bearing an attractive and large paper seal in fine condition affixed to the verso. VG £80-100 Ferdinand IV (1751-1825) King of Naples 1759-1806 & 1815-16.
