Only miners born in Spain were allowed to own copies.

Oeuvre 23, engraved throughout, large ink ownership inscription to verso of title, showing through, pp.101/102 small piece from upper blank corner, some water-staining, spotting, and finger-marking, lightly browned, contemporary tree calf, gilt, spine richly so and with red morocco label, spine and upper corner of lower cover repaired, small piece out of leather of upper cover, corners little worn, water-stained, rubbed, [New Grove III, p.844; Vieira I, pp.129-132; Vasconcellos I, pp.22-23 & 29], small folio, Paris, Auguste Leduc, [c.1819-1820].⁂ Rare copy in commerce of what is considered by many to be Bomtempo's masterpiece. This memorial to the great Portuguese poet Luís de Camões was composed and performed (in private) for the first time during a brief stay in Paris in 1819. Provenance: Antonio Manoel Marques, Villa S.João da Pesquina, 1856 (ink inscription to verso of title); Manuel Ferreira, Alfarrabista, Porto (modern bookplate to front pastedown).

The author recommends picking the olives by hand, rather than shaking the tree.

The viceroyalty of Rio de la Plata was created in 1776 in order to provide more effective government and more conscientious administration to the region, hitherto neglected by the Spanish authorities. Provenance: Convent of San Nicolas de Tolentio, Manila (ink inscription to verso of general title).

NO RESERVE Portugese diplomat.- Pereira (Francisco, diplomat, d. 1578) Letter to Raymond de Rover, Baron de Fourquevaux, Ambassador to Spain, in Portugese, 2pp. with conjugate blank and address panel, folio, Lisbon, 5th February 1571, on a variety of subjects, including the health of his wife and family, his pleasure at receiving the news from Fourquevaux of the king's marriage and as the ambassador's secretary is coming to Lisbon asks for news from France; promises to convey news of Antonio d'Almeida if he has any ; and comments flatteringly on Fourquevaux's great discretion and zeal in his official duties, a few small tears along folds, slightly browned.
