SALEROOM ANNOUNCEMENT - Estimates have changed to £2000-£2500Big Ted - a rare large 1920s Bing Teddy Bear who belonged to three generations of Master Mariners with full provenance, with frosted brown mohair, clear and black glass eyes with brown backs, pronounced clipped muzzle, black stitched nose, mouth and claws, swivel head, jointed elongated limbs with felt pads, hump and inoperative growler —28in. (71cm.) high (neat small patch and slight holes to top of muzzle, pads with backed holes, faded to grey, some general wear and thinning) - this bear belonged to three generations of Master Mariners, purchased by Captain R Pritchard when he coasted the Blue Funnel ships Elpenor and Agapenor to Germany in 1927, and brought him back for his son Idwal Pritchard, who later also became a Master Mariner. He was then passed onto his younger brother, Richard Glynne Pritchard born in 1939, sold with an album of history and three copies of photographs, one of a cousin of Evan’s, May holding the bear circa 1930, another of Gylnne wheeling Ted in a wheelbarrow circa 1947 and a photograph of Glynne and Idwal at a ship’s controls; the photographs are available as jpegs from the department

Victorian mahogany rolltop desk, fitted interior above a cupboard, plinth base, brass mounts, width 109cm, depth 50cm, height 93cm.Condition report:All over patches of lost veneer, bruises, surface scratches, and splitting of existing veneer. The lower right corner of the roll-top, and adjacent corner area of the body when the top is closed has substantial loss and old repairs. The interior central writing pad has been replaced with a white plastic patch, and the two leather sections either side are beginning to lift and peel. The interior is very shallow. Venee losses to the trinket drawers. Lock plates stripped out throughout. The cupboard interior is very tired. The sides are ok, general wear, no splits. Lacking any feet.

George III mahogany side table, the top with moulded edge, five drawers, width 100cm, depth 46cm, height 79cm, and a Victorian mahogany dressing table mirror with rectangular glass.Qty: 2Condition report:Side table: the top appears to be a marriage to the base. The top has a large historic split which has been repaired/ stabilised extending from the right hand side, towards the front. The split travels half way across the width. There is a resulting loss of moulding where the split starts to the right hand side. The top has various other historic scars, scratches, and marks. There is also a repaired triangular patch to the back right corner. The base section is sound but is later. The arched panel below the central drawer is poorly matched. Handles replaced. Some scuffs and marks to the supports but generally sound. No evidence of worm.
