Part of a collection formed from the late 19th century. Thence by descent.Footnote:Frederick Henry Henshaw was taught by J.V.Barber and was influenced by Turner. He exhibited at the RA and Suffolk Street from 1829 to 1864 and with the Birmingham Society of Artists. He specialised in landscape painting, which included scenes in Europe (he travelled from 1837-1840) but mostly depicted British views.Condition:The painting is an oil on canvas, framed without glazing. The canvas is in overall good condition- no obvious losses or faults. The paint surface has some patches of craquelure- to right hand cow there is a patch of paint loss with the cracks lifting from the canvas- this will need some attention. Overall the surface is dirty from storage and has some surface level accretions. The frame has solid joints- some general wear and tear, chips, also dirty.

There are touches of overpaint present across the surface which are matte in appearance. The varnish is glossy and clear.

A George III Irish silver gravy boat by Matthew West. With gadrooned rim, a leaf and scroll handle, embossed with milk maids and foliate decoration, raised on three shell and hoof feet. Height 10cm, 3.6 toz.Two legs are lead soldered back on and one is repaired in silver. The handle has been off and soldered back on with two splits to the rim near this.
