Hodgson, 39 Estelle Road, West Hampstead NW, APL2709, 'Hope to see you arrive safely at class tonight. What do you think of the other side? L. ch. 'Provenance by descent, Florance, Grace and Edith Hodgson are known to have resided at 39 Laurier Road, Dartmouth Park, London; detailed in the 1901 census Florance is noted to work for The Post Office, Edith was a milliner and Grace was 13, by 1911 all three are absent from the census, probably in protest. Many suffragettes deliberately avoided the night before the cesus was taken, often gathering at the home of a 'census resister' or quite simply leaving the property and the census taker arrived. It's documented in London suffrages spent midnight walking around Trafalgar Square with a concert put on for entertainment and a vegetarian restaurant in Covent Garden staying open to provide refreshments. The Role of Honour of suffragette prisoners from 1905-1914 (National Archive reference 7LAC/2 held at The London School of Economics) references Grace Hodgson as a prisoner.

R.A. Life Saving), an earlier lifesaving award, dated June 1931, and cloth patch bearing a maltese cross, and riband bar; medals good very fine (12) Bombardier Eric Mark Robertson, of 312 Brighton Road, Alvaston, Derby, was born on 8 April 1918, and worked as an Engineer’s Apprentice prior to his enlistment into the Royal Artillery at Derby on 2 March 1936. Serving in the Royal Artillery in WW2 in Malta (as suggested by his pay book, and by his life saving award). Given the mention of the 68th (North Midland) Heavy Anti-Aircraft Regiment, R.A., which recruited men from Derby and Birmingham, it is likely that the recipient fought during the Siege of Malta between 1940 and 1942. His papers suggest that he was discharged from further service on 17 January 1946.
Italy.- Sharp (Samuel) Letters from Italy, describing the Customs and Manners of that Country, in the years 1765, and 1766, first edition, errata leaf at end, light foxing, contemporary signature of E.Blackett on front pastedown, contemporary sprinkled calf, gilt, spine gilt with red morocco label, slightly rubbed, small patch to lower cover, 8vo, by R.
