An Eastern rug, principal colours iron red, blue and beige, fringed ends and multiple line border. 170 cm x 290 cm. CONDITION REPORT: This rug is generally showing signs of wear. Our photographs should show that the pile is worn down to the weave in many areas of the rug. There is a patch approximately half way down the length of one short side in the beige border. The fringed ends are worn. There is wear to the binding on the edge. The rug is not faded. The main issue is the general wear.
Attributed to Tilly Kettle (British, 1735-1786) Portrait of a Gentleman in a red jacket, buff waistcoat and white stock, possibly a member of the FitzGerald family oil on canvas 82 x 66cm (32 x 26in) Provenance: From an Irish country house Other Notes: Tilly Kettle was born in London, the son of a coach painter, in a family that had been members of the Brewers' Company of freemen for five generations. He studied drawing with William Shipley in the Strand and first entered professional portraiture in the 1750s. Kettle's first series of portraits appeared in the 1760s. His first surviving painting is a self-portrait from 1760, with his first exhibit with (A. Graves, 1907) the Free Society of Artists in 1761. In 1762, he worked at restoring Robert Streater's ceiling paintings in the Sheldonian Theatre, Oxford, and painted Francis Yarborough, a doctor of Brasenose College, Oxford, in 1763. He painted many members of the family of William Legge, 2nd Earl of Dartmouth. In 1764-5, he was active in London and continued exhibiting at the Society of Artists Unlined canvas. Canvas patch on reverse is mending an old damage. Age craquelure across the surface of the paint layer - in some areas the paint is slightly raised. Old losses to sitter's face have been retouched. Retouching at lower right corner covering old damage. Varnish is even and glossy. Frame is in good condition.

Two old repaired tears. Tear to left has been repaired from behind with patch. Retouching to tear is slightly mismatched. Paint layer is generally stable and secure. Varnish is glossy and even. Drips of dirt running vertically by the two Elders. Old stretcher bar marks can be seen from the front. A few losses to decorative surface of frame. Inscribed "Sorolla" to the reverse.

Two 18th century Derby figures. James Quinn as Falstaff and an allegorical figure of Justice ex C. R. Stephens collection. Decorated in coloured enamels and raised on rococo style bases. Patch marks c1770-80 Condition Report. To be used as a guide only. Restoration to Falstaffs shield and sword and some other chipping. Justice with repair to the neck, dagger and left arm.
An Edwardian satinwood and inlaid demi-lune card table, the hinged top above floral decorated frieze and square section tapering legs to spade feet, width 92cm. CONDITION REPORT: Two legs to open to support top. Lined in green baize. Very minor losses to veneer. Minor scuffs and scratches commensurate with age. Some minor veneer patch repairs.
An Italian silver combination scent bottle, lipstick holder and patch box, the hinged lid set with a turquoise coloured roundel enclosing a small container with pull-out action for a lipstick held within a screw action sleeve, the main body engraved with floral scrolls and with hinged mirrored base section, presumably for powder or patches, stamped 800, length 7.5cm.
Badge. Australian Sergeant Instructor’s Rank Insignia. A Victorian example, consisting of an 8-pointed star in gold embroidery on scarlet backing, above a scarlet cloth patch bearing crossed rifles (the stocks in gold embroidery, the barrels silvered, the slings formed of sequins), and “1883”. Below the rifles, four narrow gold lace chevrons, also on scarlet backing. All mounted on a piece of card inscribed “Geelong (Melbourne) Victorian Rifles badges. Sergeant Instructor’s Long Service”. Card with crease a tear.
A Staff Colonel’s Undress Tunic. A good example of the short-lived post-1911 ‘Frock B’ by Pulford & Sons. Fine blue serge, lapel collar with plain patch pockets and scarlet cloth gorget tabs. Small gilt GvR Staff buttons. Rank-badges in gilt and enamel. Medal ribbons for 1911 Coronation, India GS and QSA. Lining with label to Col RS Oxley Feb 1912. GC. Reginald Stewart Oxley (1863-1951), educated at Charterhouse and the RMC, had nearly all his regimental service in the KRRC and commanded the 1st Bn. 1907-11. However, he had had little active service as a regimental officer when, in March 1915, he was made GOC of 24th Bde. Brig-General Oxley’s baptism of fire as a commander was a wasteful failure involving heavy casualties. After a further apparent failure at the Somme in July 1916, he was dismissed. Thereafter he was given sundry Staff jobs at home before retiring in 1919.
Royal Marines Light Infantry NCO’s Hot Weather/Fatigue Uniform. A fine and very rare example. Tunic of unbleached duck canvas. Upright collar, four detachable large brass Queen Victoria Crown RMLI buttons to front, and small ones to the plain shoulder-straps. Patch breast pocket on left and two side pockets. Three red braid chevrons to right sleeve.….. Trousers of similar material, stamped with name ‘C Tanner’ and inspection-stamp dated ?6. 11. Slight staining, otherwise near VGC. (2 items)

Tekke Turkmen ensi, Turkmenistan, second half 19th century, 5ft. x 3ft. 5in. 1.52m. x 1.04m. Overall wear, heavy in places; repairs; hole to right side with conservation patch verso; losses to lower end; damage to selvedges. Well drawn gapyrga (tree) motifs in the main border and upper panel of the lower elem. A once beautiful ensi of superb colour; finely woven with a soft handle.
