Comprising of; Victorian South Africa Campaign Medal (impressed for HMS Dwarf) (HMS Dwarf participated in the Boer War and was one of the last sail-powered gunships of the Victorian era), 14-15 Star, War Medal, Victory Medal and Long Service & Good Conduct Medal. All impressed with rank and number. Presented neatly on a board, complete with cap patch to top. A rare and interesting group.

Tip of tail with patch of white paint, this is perhaps from room decorating or something similar. Some light crazing. Round Beswick stamp to belly and painter's No 81 or 18 to front left hoof. Some other spots possibly from decorating. A 19th century mahogany chest, having a brushing slide above three short drawers, and three graduated long drawers below, on bracket feet, 106 cm wide See illustration Condition report Report by RBTop split and with panel repairsReport by GHTop scratched with veneer cracks, a large L shaped area of replace veneer on the left hand side, and another small veneer patch on the far right hand side. Broken handle and associated parts present. Several areas of damage to cock beading and some repaired sections. Also some veneer repairs on the frieze and between the drawers. Legs quite possibly reinforced and/or replaced at some point. Varying amounts of sun fading and water damage in various places. Handles appear to be original as there are no plugged holes visible from the back. Locks possibly replaced. Missing section on backboards of around 2 inches wide. Various other chips, scratches, dents, small repairs and restorations, age related wear and small damages. Little or no obvious woodworm damage. Overall in a very much saleroom fresh condition.
A Pilkington's Royal Lancastrian lustre twin handled vase by William S. Mycock, decorated with red flowers on a pale green lustre ground and with simple lug handles, artist monogram mark and date 1924 to base, height 18.25cm. CONDITION REPORT: Overall surface crazing and fine cracks to the glaze, a slight rough patch to the inside of the rim which is done in firing rather than any damage, the foot rim is slightly uneven and there is a very fine hairline crack spurning through the foot rim running approximately 2cm into the lower portion body of the vase, otherwise in good condition.

A circa 1800 Bilston enamel patch box inscribed to lid "May charms like thine be still my lot and love like my mine be ne'er forgot", together with another enamel box bearing label inscribed "B'ham circa 1770" CONDITION REPORTS The Bilston enamel patch box has a discoloured lid, there are cracks to the enamel all over and it has has some repairs visible to the inside, verdigris etc showing on the metal work, firing flaws etc. Approx 14 cm in length x 2.2 cm in height. The further box lid is discoloured in places, particularly where it is cracked and been repaired. The bottom is worn, some verdigris to the metal mounts. Approx 4,5 cm in diameter x 2,5 cm in height. The red carpet showing various signs of wear, uneven wear, fading, uneven fading, would benefit from a good clean. Looks to be machine-made, stained. World Orders and Decorations, A WW2 “Flying Tigers” Purple Heart and DFC, Killed in Action, Group of 5 to Second Lieutenant Louis Samuel Zaleski, 529th “Flying Tiger” Squadron, 311th Fighter Group, US 14th Air Force, killed in action as a pilot of a P-51B, Mustang, on the 26th March 1945, whilst undertaking a dive-bombing mission near Kaifeng in Japanese-occupied China, crashing at Chiao-Tso, having completed 7 previous missions as part of the fighter escort for B-29 bombing operations against Japan, comprising: Purple Heart, Type 2 (1942-43), bronze gilt numbered 471389 (Slot Brooch) (Lt Louis Zaleski AAF); Distinguished Flying Cross, bronze issue (Slot Brooch) (Lt. Louis Zaleski AAF); American Campaign Medal 1941-45 (Crimp Brooch); Asiatic Campaign Medal, 1941-45 (Crimp Brooch); WW2 Victory Medal, 1941-1945, (Slot Brooch); the first two hand-engraved in blackened capitals, the remainder unnamed as issued. Medals mounted in glazed frame with U.S. Crest in brass, Silver Pilot’s wings marked “STERLING” and a 14th US Air Force Flying Tiger Squadron cloth patch, extremely fine (5) Second Lieutenant Louis Zaleski was born 18th August 1923, at 727 Bridge Street, New Kensington, Pennsylvania, USA, to Peter and Mary Zaleski. He enlisted into the US Army Air Force in February 1942, where he was sent to the University of Arkansas, in Fayetteville, for pilot training. As a cadet he is recorded as having an exemplary record having been “Top Gun” in his class. He received his commission and Silver Wings on the 12th March 1944, at Craig Field Alabama; he commenced active service in September 1944. He was killed in action over China 26 March 1944, and was soon after, 8th May 1945, awarded the Purple Heart. Extract from War Department Letter dated 16th May 1946: “It is revealed that the P-51 plane which he was piloting crashed at Chiao-Tso, China. His plane broke off from a formation of nine, flying eastward. Five planes broke off from the formation and began bombing the railroad bridge, seven miles west of the town, while the remainder continued flying east. At least five bombs were dropped when one plane started on a steep dive. It exploded mid-air: the right wing fell off and the plane dropped to the ground. It was in this location that your son lost his life. His body was recovered by a Kaifeng search team and identified by the watch and ring he wore.” His body was initially interred in the United States Military Cemetery, Shanghai, China, after a full military funeral, before later being repatriated at his Mother’s request to his home town of New Kennington Pennsylvania. Sold with a full dossier of photocopy letters, typed biography complied by the family, clippings and original newspaper clippings. Note: Purple Hearts numbered between 400001to 600000 were manufactured under contract dated 1st July 1942 by Charles M. Robbins, Co. Inc.

Near Very Good Working Order and Condition, retaining 90% of original mirror blued finish to frame and barrel (worn patch to top of barrel and some small knocks), and faint colour hardening to cylinder; in a modern fitted mahogany box, with R Adams Registered double cavity 38 bore mould for bullet and ball, a brass mounted wooden loading/cleaning rod, pewter oil bottle, wad punch, and later nipple key/pricker and cap tin.
