Cadell, 1785; with a 3 vol. set of Madan's Treatise on Female Ruin, first edition of volume 3, others second edition, 8vo (6)⁂ The first mentioned is conjectured to have influenced the novels of Jane Austen, who was familiar with Hayley's other writings, owning six volumes of his Poems and Plays (Devoney Looser, Women Writers and Old Age in Great Britain, 1750-1850, 2008). The second is a scandalous work by a Methodist preacher in which he advocates polygamy.
