A Staffordshire lead-glazed redware small teapot and cover, bullet-shaped and decorated with white slip with a patch to the top of the handle and lined rims, mid 18th century (some minute chips) Cf. Ross E. Taggart, The Burnap Collection of English Pottery (1967), p. 66 no. 177; and Robin Emmerson, British Teapots and Tea Drinking, (1992), p. 58 & 59, no. 27 where the author speculates that this group of teapots with similar slip decoration are comparable to wasters found at the Samuel Bell Pottery, Newcastle-under-Lyme.

A pair of 12 bore percussion officer’s belt pistols, by Westley Richards, 170 New Bond St, London, 13¼” overall, octagonal twist barrels 8” with single platinum line at breeches and engraved with maker’s name and address on top flat, scroll engraved locks with safety bolts and maker’s name, walnut fullstocks with rounded chequered butts and steel mounts, 4” steel belt hooks on left side, swivel ramrods. Good Working Order and above average Condition, retaining some original finish (trigger guards reblacked), in their original green baize lined mahogany case with brass carrying handle and trade label in the lid bearing the arms of Prince Albert and “Gun Manufacturer to His Royal Highness Prince Albert”, containing flattened hexagonal section copper flask by Sykes, 13 bore pincer mould (lightly rusted), substantial loading/cleaning rod, screwdriver, turned wood patch box, and a tin of caps. Good Condition (keyhole escutcheon missing, some wear to lining). Plate 44

A 16-BORE PERCUSSION SPORTING RIFLE BY WILLIAM MOORE, serial no. 593, circa 1836, with 30 1/8in. octagonal sighted barrel signed 'WILLIAM MOORE, MAKER TO HIS MAJESTY, 78 EDGWARE ROAD, LONDON.' and rifled with two grooves, breech with pierced platinum plug, signed engraved bolted lock, figured walnut half-stock (fore-end repaired)m and engraved iron mounts including patch-box cover engraved with a stag (some wear and corrosion throughout), London proof marks; together with ANOTHER, OF 25-BORE, circa 1840, with 31 3/4in. octagonal sighted barrel rifled with three grooves, engraved lock with indistinct signature of a Derby retailer, half-stock, and iron mounts (some wear, corrosion and defects throughout), Birmingham proof marks. An interesting SB 11 bore percussion sporting gun, 51½" overall, three stage barrel 35½" with octagonal breech, the half stock, lock, false breech and brass mounts including large patch box, from an Enfield Brunswick military percussion rifle, the lock engraved with crowned VR and "Rl Manufactory Enfield" and stamped 1842, brass mounted wooden ramrod with worm. GWO & generally GC (rather worn and battered overall, throat pipe and ramrod worm cap missing)
a Derby Porcelain Model of Stag, 1750's, at lodge with a wisp of reeds sweeping over its flanks, its upper body slightly raised against its left leg, largely in the white except for facial details, antlers and the applied flowers, patch marks, bears dealers paper label "Manheim", 9.5cm (restoration to left ear, right hind leg and antlers)
An attractive Tekke Turkmen torba, Turkmenistan mid 19th century, 1ft.1in. x 3ft.8in. 0.33m.x 1.12m. Slight wear in field. Left side elem missing outer half all the way down, although top half has been used as a patch in centre of upper edge, with slight tear into field, very slight loss to base.
Kuba long rug, north east Caucasus late 19th century, 10ft.7in. x 4ft.1in. 3.23m. x 1.25m. Overall uneven wear, small piece missing lower right edge, small patch lower end border right, slight losses both ends. This is an example of very distinctive but quite rare, design group. See Bennett, Oriental Rugs vol. 1: Caucasian', nos. 161 and 313 for a discussion of the type and related examples, including one in the Metropolitan Museum, New York.
Herbert Stanley, (fl.c.1900-1915) "LOWDORE (sic) FALLS" NEAR KESWICK, oil on canvas, signed lower left, entitled to the canvas verso, 115.5cm x 80cm, (45.5in x 31.5in), ina swept gilt frame (patch to canvas verso) ***This artist is apparently unrecorded, but his style owes much to Keswick artist William Lakin Turner, and to James Henry ("Herbert") Crossland. The signature of the forename bears a resemblance to works which the latter artist signed "Herbert Crossland".
