The foot is very clean with just a few light scratches/nicks. The table's top surface presents really well (it has a protective glass top), the two additional leaves are in very good condition too, though one has a patch of longish/light scratches (which would look better with a professional polish) and a few tiny losses to one small bit of edge. Stretcher marks to top edge and starting to emerge to right edge. A small patch repair to the reverse in the lower left corner. Examined under UV light there are some small spots of retouching. The upper right quarter fluoresces extensively. Viewed under normal light the the paint appears to be a slightly different shade of yellow in this area and has been more flatly applied than in other areas of the work. ▲ Peter Lanyon (1918-1964) Composition with horse and boat signed and dated 'Peter Lanyon 49' l.l., traced slate monotype, printed in dark blue, with pencil, pen and ink and gouache 64 x 49.5cm Provenance: Bonhams, Knightsbridge, 'Modern Prints and the St Ives School', 25 May 2010, lot 18; the property of a private collector. Lots 9 and 10 are rare and significant works by Peter Lanyon, showcasing his experimental approach to artistic production. We see this in the inclusion of mixed media within the printing process, as well as additions of pencil, ink and gouache. The imagery of the horse in a landscape can be linked to the large linocuts 'Red Horse, Red Boat', 1951, and 'The Returned Seaman', 1949, as well as the painting 'The Yellow Runner', 1946. In our compositions, the eye is led to the horse - a monumental beast embedded against the dramatic Cornish landscape. The prints are abstract in composition with multiple perspectives of the coastal hillside blurring organic and architectural forms as one. An echo perhaps of the impact of the local mining industry. Condition ReportFramed: 75 x 88cm Time staining with spots of foxing starting to emerge in places. Pinholes to corners with brown staining around. Discolouration to left edge. There is a faint brown area in the upper right quarter with a smaller patch of brown at the top of the right edge, please refer to illustration. Both have the appearance of watercolour/ wash with some age, however it is unclear if this was executed by the artist. Not viewed out of glazed frame.

A Shiva Lingam Stone, of dark grey polished stone with red inclusions to top and body, approximately 6.5ins highThere is a miniscule flake chip to the central red line within the diagonal stripe in the main body. There is also what looks like a line/crack going diagonally downwards from the horizontal coloured patch to the lower part but this is completely smooth to the touch. Otherwise this lot appears to be in good condition with no obvious damage/loss/restoration

Exhibited: Louis Wain and The Summer Cats Show, 16th & 17th August 2008, No. 186 This has not been inspected out of the frame. There are several scattered patches of touch ins, crease and or slight repairs to tears. The full extent of these may not be covered in the following, so please refer to the images to assist your viewing.From right to left as you are looking at the picture - lines refer to touched in tears and or creases1st cat on right - on the border to the right of his face there is a small V shaped repair. 1.5ins further down there is a horizontal line.  There is a horizontal line between the ears with some minor loss to the paint surface. To the left of the right ear there are two white hairs - to the left of them there is a vertical line which come down and across horizontally in the forehead with possible touch in - just above that is a small circular patch. Top of left ear - small line running parallel with edge of ear.Top right corner - touch ins. 4.5ins further along the top edge there appears to be a very small tear. 2ins further along again, another small repaired tear - this is above the 2nd cat in from right. 2nd cat from right - in between the raised hairs on his head there is a vertical line crease/ repaired tear. To the left of his left ear there is a small circular patch and above that what looks like a repaired V shaped tear. Lower left side of this cat - small vertical line.Middle cat - to the right above his right eye - touched in patch. Above his head there maybe some touching in.2nd cat in from left - above his head between the raised hairs there are two small patches of touching in. To the left of his right ear - tiny patch of touch in.1st cat on left - running down his entire left side there appears to be scattered touching in. This extends up into the background slightly. It also extends to scattered patches on the left side of his face. Two raised hairs on the left of his head small line. About 1ins and 3ins above his head are two small vertical line running in from the border. In line with between his ears there is a line running down from the top border.The above gives some indication of restoration. The picture does present well and has good provenance. To reiterate, please examine the images in the dropbox.
