A Serves porcelain pill/patch pot - in good condition

Joseph Horlor (1809-1887), a pair of oil on canvas, 'Trossacks Scotland' and 'Glencoe Scotland'. Both signed, 46cm x 36cm, framed Condition Report: Comes from a private home, dusty and not perfect order, it looks like one came from the attic. One is nearly ideal but has a hole mid way down the right side and has a few pin head sized paint losses to sky. Picture paint is stable this one would benefit by a patch and minor restoration, the dusty picture is a little more damaged. Looks like a reline, not terrible at all, both have the title on the back,on the canvas. Probably original frames which somebody saw fit to gold paint sometime ago, nothing important on the frames so they could be discarded. . Nice to see a pair, however some work is needed.

An antique set of heavy horse shaft bells / bell belfry - probably 19th century, the three graduated bells mounted on a brass studded leather 'belfry', on wrought iron brackets with leather straps, mounted on a later oak base, 40cm. high.A scattering of old worm holes to one side of the leather belfry, and a small patch of insect damage to the other side to one corner. Surface rust to iron brackets and old welded repair to one side. Dirty and dusty.

SAN QUENTINHalf-Sheet (22" x 28")Fine+ on Paper Warner Bros., 1937This rare and beautiful half-sheet, mounted on paper, features lovely images of the players in this film, including Bogart, Sheridan, O'Brien, and Barton MacLane. This style of the half sheet has not been seen in auction previously, that we are aware of.This poster has had general scattered touch-ups addressing previous issues, including fold wear, tears, and chipping, plus the borders have been airbrushed. It presents wonderfully now. Filmed on location at the San Quentin State Prison, this is the story of Joe "Red" Kennedy (Humphrey Bogart), a hardened criminal who is sentenced to prison and runs afoul of fellow inmate "Sailor Boy" Hansen (Joe Sawyer). The two patch up their feud long enough to break from the prison work gang, leading to an explosive confrontation with chief guard Steve Jameson (Pat O'Brien), who is dating Red's sister, Mary (Anne Sheridan). Bogart was still a rising star at this time - he received second billing, after O'Brien - a period in which he was pigeonholed in gangster roles. Nevertheless, this is a great prison picture and a superb role for Bogart, clearly showing his potential for stardom. This lot will be auctioned on Thursday, December 7th. (Military) Companion’s neck badge, silver-gilt and enamel, with both full and miniature-width neck ribands, in Collingwood, London, case of issue; Defence and War Medals 1939-45; Korea 1950-53, 1st issue (Chaplain A. W. M. Weekes R.N.); U.N. Korea 1950-54, unnamed as issued; Naval General Service 1915-62, 1 clasp, Brunei (Chaplain A. W. M. Weekes. R.N.); General Service 1962-2007, 1 clasp, Borneo (Chaplain Revd. A. W. M. Weekes. London Gazette 13 June 1970. The Right Reverend Ambrose Walter Marcus Weekes was born in Queensborough, Kent, in 1919, and was educated at Sir Joseph Williamson’s Mathematical School, Rochester, and King’s College, London. He was ordained Deacon by the Bishop of Rochester, the Rt. Rev. Christopher Chavasse, O.B.E., M.C. (and the twin brother of Noel Chavasse, V.C. and Bar, M.C.) on 31 May 1942, and Priest the following year, prior to joining the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve as a Chaplain. He served during the Second World War in H.M.S. Drake and during the Korean War in H.M.S. Triumph and, remaining in the Navy, rose through the ecclesiastical ranks, becoming Chaplain of the Fleet - the most senior Chaplain in the Royal Navy - in 1969. Appointed a Companion of the Order of the Bath in the 1970 Birthday Honours List, Weekes retired from the Royal Navy in 1972, and was offered the Chaplaincy of Tangier in Morocco. The following year, he left Tangier to become Dean of Gibraltar, from which, in 1977, he was consecrated Suffragan Bishop in the newly created Diocese in Europe (the Diocese which was responsible for all of the Anglican Churches in Continental Europe). Over the next nine years he visited every Capital City in Europe (a large number of which were still behind the Iron Curtain), before retiring in 1986, and becoming the priest of the English Church in Montreux. Here his patch was equally large and diverse, and included the ski resorts of Verbier and St. Moritz (the latter a significant distance from the shore of Lake Geneva!). Finally retiring back to London, Weekes spent the last few years of his life undertaking various cruises, usually on the Cunard liner Queen Elizabeth 2, visiting many of the places he had seen during his time in the Navy or as Bishop in Europe. He died in London on 24 April 2012. There are four patch repairs, which are not visible from the front, but are visible from the reverse. Repairs visible to the gilt frame, with further splits, losses, etc visible.

J. BOURNE; oil on board, shipping scene depicting paddle steamer and other vessels, with cityscape beyond, 21 x 26.5cm, framed (af).Condition Report: - There is a small patch repair to the sky of the image and there is a detached but present section of the pierced gilt frame. There is a further scratch to the image bottom right, there is a split to the paint and it is starting to come away.

An early 20th century mahogany six-drawer chest-on-chest, raised on plinth base, 124 x 57 x 51cm (af).Condition Report: - The retaining trim for the two sections is missing on the left-hand side. There is a notable patch repair between the top two drawers on the right-hand side. There is a further loss to the right-hand side of the fourth drawer in the lower section. Further general wear visible throughout, including scuffs, scrapes, fading, staining, splitting, etc.

1930s and 40s fashions to include a ballerina pink evening gown with soutache bodice and sweetheart neck, a brown velvet dress with an additional fabric piece, a brown crepe dress with orange and white daisy print, a printed rayon dress with very faded cc41 label, a mosbrook kilt, a shot taffeta gown with corded bodice and hem, a dusky pink faille jacket, a chiffon and lace waistcoat (a/f) and an all in one (to be worn under shorts) from the Women's League of Health and Beauty (qty) pink gown has split above buttons at side opening and front of tulle peplum has been cut away, brown dress is torn at the underarms, crepe dress has fade, small holes, generally worn, cc41 dress has badly torn underarms, kilt has a patch, a darn and a couple of small moth holes, taffeta gown has large split at side seam, scattered small holes, the hem has rubbed away over the cording in areas from being dragged on the floor, jacket has a small hole on shoulder and buttons are missing, all in one has small hole at back of neck and missing fastening on gusset

Two early Laura Ashley pieces, Made in Wales label from the late 60s/ early 70s. The first being a red cotton apron dress, tabard style with patch pockets and a blossom print, the second being a cafe au lait prairie dress with milk chocolate floral print in the Indian block print style, sz 12 label (2) Both pieces are in good, strong and clean condition. The red apron dress has overall fade from wash and wear. 

A 1920s J K Farnell teddy bear, with blonde mohair, replacement orange and black glass eyes, pronounced clipped muzzle, black stitched nose, mouth and webbed hand claws, swivel head, jointed elongated limbs with cloth pads, feet card-lined, hump and inoperative squeaker-- 23in. (58.5cm.) high - this bear was purchased in 1997 from Pearson Antique Dolls & Teddy Bears (small hole to muzzle, left hand stitching replaced, felt patch to base of right hand pad, foot pads and stitching replaced, small hole on seam to right foot, thinning)

A British 1920s seated velvet puppy, of cream velvet with brown velvet eye patch, tip of one ear, tail and soles of feet, clear and black glass eyes with remains of brown painted backs, pink stitched nose and remains of mouth and swivel head --7 1/4in. (18.5cm.) high (slight damage to front paws, discoloured and head stitched in place)

A 1950s Chiltern Ting-A-Ling teddy bear, with blonde mohair, orange and black glass eyes, black stitched nose, mouth and claws, swivel head and jointed limbs —12in. (31cm.) high (inoperative chimes, foot pads replaced, patch to right hand pad, wear and thinning)

An early Steiff Teddy Bear circa 1910, with rare brown mohair now faded to blonde, black boot button eyes, pronounced clipped muzzle, black stitched nose, mouth and claws, swivel head, elongated limbs with felt pads, hump, inoperative growler and FF underscored button in ear --20in. (51cm.) high (neat patch to tip of muzzle under nose, top of muzzle thinning to three holes, wear to arms, general wear and thinning, faded) - this bear is known as Lawrence

An early Steiff cinnamon mohair bear on wheels circa 1906-08, with centre-seam, black boot button eyes, pronounced muzzle, remains of black stitched nose, mouth and claws, swivel head, tail, standing metal axles and cast-iron four-spoked wheels --19in. (48.5cm.) long (large patch to side of head, smaller patch to back right ankle, ears need reattaching, slight hole to pads, two small patches on shoulder and other slight wear)

A pair of Coalport vases, circa 1900-10of tall, ovoid form, with twin rams head handles, the cobalt and lemon yellow ground with gilt foliage and beaded cartouche enclosing panels painted by J.H Plant, depicting a castle overlooking the shoreline and ruins overlooking a lake, artist signed, numbered V6690 in gilt, printed factory marks in green, 27cm high (2)Provenance: Ivor Southorn Collection.Condition:Both vases are in a good condition with no damages or repairs, however both vases have crazing to the glaze. The gilding is generally in good condition but one vase has a patch of orange to one foot. There are also a few areas and spots of brown discoloration to the body.

HORSE RACING - A Coalport trophy cup with cover for Pains Lane Races, September 27th 1853, in the form of a two-handled cup and cover with a fruit-pod finial, the claret pink ground painted with horse racing scene and trailing foliage in gilt, the opposing side with gilt inscription, cover with grape finial, base unmarked, overall height 29cm highProvenance: Ivor Southorn Collection. Previously sold at Sotheby's on 23rd November 1993. Sold together with a small amount of photocopied literature and correspondence relating to Pain's Lane Racecourse.Footnote: Pains Lane is the original name for St. George's, a crossroads settlement of squatter-type cottages which sprung up in the eighteenth century on the parish borders of Lilleshall, Shifnal and Wrockwardine Wood. The church, dedicated to St. George, was built in 1806 and there was a market near the crossroads by the 1820s. What was the racecourse, is now the present-day location of St. George's Primary School. Pains Lane meetings took place between 1840 - 1859 before continuing from 1860 - 1874 as St. George's Races. Racing had a considerable following among the miners and ironworkers of the Coalbrookdale coalfield, but this is the only known meeting to have taken place in the coalfield itself.Each winner of the race would be awarded a purse of ten sovereigns together with a Coalport trophy cup, which was valued at £10 in 1845. It is believed that twenty-six cups were offered in total, the last of which was in 1869. The winner of this 1853 Coalport cup, 'Le Juif', was owned by Mr Joseph T. Phillips. Phillips farmed over 300 acres at Donnington Wood and also held property in Hadley. Prior to his win, he had regular involvement with the races including acting as steward, committeeman and a judge. Mr Phillips would go on to also win two further trophies in the 1865 and 1866 St. George's Races.Condition:Small underside foot rim chip. Some scratches to the claret ground and a patch of gilt wear near the foot (near the chip). No further damages or repairs.

A Coalport cased silver mounted coffee service, hallmarked for Jay, Richard Attenborough Co Ltd, Chester, 1907in a yellow, white and gilt colourway, the mounts pierced with bacchanalian frolicking cherubs, the service most unusually with a coffee pot, sucrier and cream jug, six coffee cups and six saucers, six teaspoons and pair of sugar tongs in a fitted Jay's Goldsmith and Silversmith case, service with printed factory marks in green, Jay's retailer's marks and pattern number 5975Condition:One coffee cup with minute chip to upper rim. Sucrier with restored chip near rim. 2 coffee cups crazed.2 saucers crazed. 1 saucer with minute nibbles around foot rim.Coffee pot with a hairline to the pot's rim and stained with some light internal brown discolouration and further lighter staining near the spout.The exterior of the case has some light wear - one patch to the top and the remainder mostly around the edges.
