Uniform colour. Cupboard doors are straight with the exception of a very small gap at the bottom (see image). The sliding trays to the interior have been removed. With key and working lock. Split/patch repair on the side panels, with small veneer losses. Drawers are pine lined.

A 17th Century Oak Refectory Table, of three plank boarded construction with cleated ends above a plain frieze with scrolled brackets, on turned legs with block feet joined by a peripheral stretcher (repairs), 351cm by 72cm by 79cmTable top with various patch repairs and later sections of timber added. Numerous old decay and further splits, the top is also slightly misshapen. Numerous decay and splits throughout legs with sections of stretcher replaced. All feet have also been re-tipped. Structurally sound.
Steiff - An unboxed Steiff mohair bear #001253, standing approximately 30cms in height. The bear appears to be in Excellent overall condition with a small bald patch to the nose. the bear has the Steiff button to the ear with yellow label plus tags to body and feet, with working growler. Bible leaf from 1462.- Bible, Latin, Single leaf, from Genesis chapters 34 to 36, double column, 48 lines, Gothic type, 2 initials supplied in red and blue with large marginal flourishes, chapter numbers and head-lines in red and blue, ruled, light staining to head and foot, small patch of worming to margins, [BMC I 22; Goff B529; GW 4204], folio, (400 x 300mm.), [Mainz, Johannes Fust and Peter Schoeffer], [1462].⁂ A leaf from the first dated bible (and the fourth edition of the Vulgate); preceeded only by the Gutenberg Bible at Mainz, the Pfister Bible at Bamberg and the Mentelen Bible at Strasbourg. The text is from Genesis 34 - 36 and concerns the aftermath of the rape of Jacob's daughter Dinah and the moving of his family to Bethel in Canaan. 1462 Bible leaves from the Book of Genesis are very rare in commerce.

Their family seat, Menabilly, near Fowey, was let to the writer Daphne du Maurier from 1943 to 1969. She restored the house and used it as a model for Manderley in her novel Rebecca.
Blixen (Karen) Den Afrikanske Farm, first Danish edition, original pictorial wrappers, light toning and creasing to spine, spine ends a little chipped, label partially removed from lower flap, light rubbing and creasing to extremities, patch of light soiling to lower cover, a very good example, 8vo, Copenhagen, 1937.⁂ The fragile first Danish edition, published after first English but prior to the first American editions.

A scarce .177” “Warrior” air pistol, made between 1931 and 1939, this appears to be an early example without serial number or “F. Clarke’s Patent”, and with semi circular trigger guard and bevelled front end to the cocking lever, with black vulcanite grips. VGWO & near VGC, retaining nearly all original finish (patch of wear on left side of air chamber). £250-300.

BREVETE”, the barrel engraved “BONNERAVE & CHAPON A BUENOS AYRES” over “A FRANCOTTE LIEGE”, and with ejector rod on the right, Liege proved, with plain line engraved cylinder and frame and bag shaped butt with plain dark wood grips and lanyard ring. A quantity of mainly 19th century English porcelain part dinner and dessert services, etc, including a set of six Bloor Derby plates with blue grounds, an Imari part service, another painted with birds on a salmon ground, a Ridgeway sucrier and cover circa 1830, and a Davenport Imari cabaret tray (a.f.) (one shelf). Cabinet plate decorated with scene crazed and discoloured. Two square dishes heavily worn and rubbed with crazing, one with stapled repair. Five matching plates all with heavy wear and rubbing, three with large chips to the rim and two of those with star cracks to the base. Two further shell form matching dishes each with heavy crazing, hairlines and chips, with rubbing also. One sugar bowl and cover with repaired knop, rubbing and paint scratches. Six Bloor Derby floral plates, each rubbed and with mild paint scratches and varying degrees of crazing. Imari teapot with crack through base, continuing through body, areas of heavy rubbing. Imari Davenport serving dish with numerous stapled repairs. Smaller Imari dish with rubbing. Collingwood Imari dish with rubbing, rough patch marks, originally from three feet now missing. Part set of twenty Imari dinner plates and dishes of varying sizes each rubbied, chipped and crazed, some with hairlines.

The gilding is generally in good shape with only minor scratches, one meat plate has a worn patch to the gilding. Two 20cm plates, and one 15cm plates have rim chips.

Crowley (Aleister) Thumbs Up!, first edition, first issue, number 32 of 100 copies signed by the author, this copy with presentation inscription from the author "To Guy Knowles, Known in the Secret Conclaves as G. K., from his old companion-on-the-hoof a.c., known in the Arcane Aeropagus as Aleister Crowley. In memory of unfading Himalayan splendour" to limitation p., portrait frontispiece of the author tipped onto verso of upper wrapper (frontispiece with spotting and repaired tear to head, likely remounted), errata slip tipped in at front, light patch of browning to title, original stitched wrappers, light toning to covers, some light damp-staining, [York 42a], Published by the O. T. O., 1941.⁂ An excellent association copy inscribed to a companion on Crowley's failed expedition to climb K2.The expedition to climb K2 in 1902 was unfortunately unsuccessful although the party reached further than any before them and set several altitude endurance records in doing so. The expedition was beset by bad weather as well as the party suffering from a multitude of physical (Crowley had recurring bouts of malaria) and psychological ailments. Crowley's eccentricities including his decision to bring a substantial poetry library with him did not help matters; at one point Crowley threatened Knowles with a large revolver but was disarmed by the rest of the party. Knowles kept the revolver for the rest of his life as a memento of the extraordinary episode.
Forster (E.M.) Where Angels Fear to Tread, first edition, first issue with 32pp. advertisements beginning with 'The Edge of Circumstance' signed by the author on title with a strike through the printed name, half-title, bookplates of Henry John Hancock Lloyd and Thos. and Lois Baskett to pastedown and endpaper, some light marking to front pastedown and endpaper, original cloth, light browning to spine, spine ends and corners a little bumped, small patch of marking to upper cover, light rubbing to extremities, but a bright and excellent copy overall, [Kirkpatrick A1a], 8vo, William Blackwood and Sons, 1905.⁂ Forster's first novel, we can trace no signed copies for almost 30 years.Published when Forster was only 26 years old, Where Angels Fear to Tread immediately established the author as a writer of note and its central theme, of the snobbery and hypocrisy of the English middle class, one that would preoccupy him for much of his career.

F., May 1923" to endpaper, 1p. advertisements, the odd mark or light patch of finger-soiling, original cloth-backed boards with horizontal blue streaks, spine label chipped and a little browned, spine ends a little bumped, corners worn, rubbed, [Kirkpatrick A9; Woolmer 29], 8vo, Hogarth Press, 1923.⁂ A very good association copy, inscribed to a friend and fellow-author.George Habib Antonius (1891-1942), Lebanese-Egyptian diplomat and historian of Arab nationalism. Antonius worked in the British government censorship office in Alexandria and befriended Forster during this time. He is cited by Forster as an authority in the acknowledgements of his guide to Alexandria.
